St. Johns, PA- Barbara and Jim Cromarty's Riverhead Raceway has been producing talented Modified drivers for years. And on August 27, the winner of the Modified feature event at Riverhead Raceway, will earn the right to represent Long Island's only short track at Mountain Speedway's 12th annual "King Of The Mountain" 150 lap event. The KOTM has quickly become a prestigious Modified event in the northeast, and this year's event will take place on Sunday, October 9th, as part of Mountain's huge fall finale weekend.

Paying a respectable five-thousand dollars to the winner, this fall classic is once again expected to draw some of the top names in the mighty Modified ranks. Many Long Island based Modified teams have competed at the KOTM in years past, including John Fortin, Chuck Steuer, Bill Park, Dave Sapienza, and 2006 Mountain Speedway Modified champion Eddie Brunnhoelzl III, among others.

The winner of the August 27th Modified feature event at Riverhead Raceway, will earn a guaranteed starting position for the KOTM 150, and the right to represent Riverhead Raceway at the 1/3 mile Mountain Speedway oval located in St. Johns, Pennsylvania.

Race fans will surely want to mark their calendars now for October 8-9, as the Pocono region of Pennsylvania will roar to the sound of the mighty 600 horsepower Modifieds, along with several support divisions competing in extra distance feature events.

Additional qualifiers will be added at other racing venues as the season progresses. A KOTM qualifier schedule will also be posted on the Mountain Speedway website.
