St. Johns, PA- Originally scheduled for Saturday and rescheduled for the following day after being washed out, several drivers took part in time trials at Mountain Speedway. When it was all said and done, Kyle Ebersole ran the fastest Modified lap, which he’s grown accustomed too. After all, this is the third consecutive season that he has accomplished that feat. Chip Wanamaker timed quickest in the Street Stocks, which he is also used to. Wanamaker time trialed quickest last season as well. Eric Banashefski ran a torrid FWD lap and won his first Opening Day Pole Award. Kevin Nowak of Long Island fought off his fellow INEX Legends competitors to score his first victory of the season and Sam Ryan of White Haven stomped the 4-cylinder enduro field en route to victory.

Mark Tischler led the INEX Legends feature to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap main. He took the early lead until a yellow flag slowed the field when Stephen Gual spun in turns one and two.

Green flag racing resumed and Kevin Nowak took his turn at the point before Tischler retook command. Scott Hubler ran third behind the pair, followed by Andrew Stotler and Mike Alcaro.

Nowak completed his second pass for the lead on the fourth circuit and Alcaro overtook Hubler for third. Alcaro then powered by Tischler to take second on lap seven. He then set his sights on the leader.

Alcaro caught Nowak and the duo encountered lapped traffic. With a lapped car in the middle of the two on lap 16, Alcaro went to the low side of the track to take the lead. He made contact with and turned around the Carl Jones machine. Alcaro was forced to restart from the rear of the field.

With the green flag back out, Nowak went on to take his first Legends victory of the season over eight place starter Brandon Michael, Hubler, Stotler and Brandon DeBrakilmer. .

Heat race victories went to Mark Tischler and Mike Alcaro.

Ed Michael started from the pole in the 100-lap 4-cylinder Mountain Madness enduro event but quickly lost the race lead when Sam Ryan came from his sixth starting spot to take the lead in turn one. Michael held second when they crossed the strip to complete the first circuit, followed by Bruce Miller, Robert Fink and Bill Rice.

Peter Verwys started back in the tenth position but he moved forward in a hurry. Verwys Shot by Rice, Fink and Michaels and moved into third on lap seven. A few laps later he overtook Miller for second.

The first of two red flags flew on lap 29 when a gaggle of cars tangled in turn three. Ryan, the race lead, got some damage from the incident, as did Miller, Josh Oswald and rookie drivers, Devin Nethercott and Jake McGrath.

Green flag racing resumed and Ryan was simply untouchable over the closing laps. On a lap of his own, he went on to take the victory over Verwys. Several of the early front runners, including Fink, Miller and Rice had problems in the latter half of the event, which helped Mike Harding, Ken Harper and Art Kulik close out the top five.
