The NASCAR Modified teams that call the historic Riverhead Raceway home have received some good news. Just two weeks prior to their May 7th opening night race it was announced today that Best Buy of Riverhead will join the class as a seasonal sponsor for 2011. The NASCAR Modifieds headline a very energetic opening night Whelen All-American Series program with eight feature events being presented by Barbara and Jim Cromarty.

The open wheel warriors will compete in a 35-lap feature event.

"We are very happy to have Best Buy of Riverhead sign on with our NASCAR Modifieds for what promises to be another exciting season of open wheel racing at Riverhead Raceway" Bob Finan noted. Best Buy will have a strong presence at the track especially during the months of June, July and August when they will be providing some great prizes for the faithful fans that visit the quarter mile oval. A Best Buy night at the races will also be forthcoming with that date to be disclosed in the near future.

Best Buy joins Miller Lite and Safelite Auto Glass as a marketing partner of the NASCAR Modifieds for the 2011 campaign, with track officials hopeful of signing another sponsor or two before the May 7th lid lifter. Nearly 35 car owners and drivers have registered car numbers for the 2011 season which is up from the past few seasons and that can only translate into great open wheel action on the track.

Joining the NASCAR Modifieds for the May 7th opener are the Late Models, Figure Eights, Chargers, Blunderbusts, Super Pro Trucks, Legend Race Cars and an 8-Cylinder Enduro. That equals over 200 laps of racing to usher in the new year! With all that racing on tap Barbara and Jim Cromarty have announced a 5:00 pm start time for feature event racing.

This sounds like great news for riverhead raceway. I wish more of the hundreds of companies that do business in riverhead would follow suit. Boost the driver payouts most importantly.
