The cars and stars of the dirt track Sportsman stock car world, many of whom race at the New Egypt Speedway on a regular basis, will have their chance to race on the third mile paved oval at Wall Stadium on Saturday evening, May 21. Grandstand seating opens at 4:00 p.m. and racing begins at 6:00 p.m.

“The dirt track Modifieds raced here at Turkey Derby last year and were well received,” promoter Cliff Krause said. “Now fans are asking about the dirt track Sportsman cars. We’ve talked to several teams and there seems to be quite a bit of interest.

“Since the dirt Sportsman cars don’t race every Saturday at New Egypt, if this goes well we will probably have them back again.”

Krause said that licenses from any dirt track speedway that presents dirt track Sportsman racing will be honored and the prevailing rules for the event would be the New Egypt Speedway Sportsman rules. He also said that the purse offered would be comparable to the New Egypt Speedway purse.

Along with the dirt Sportsman racers, the asphalt style Blewett Recycling Sportsman cars will also be on the May 21 card in a 25-lap main event, while the Shinn Crane Factory Stocks, the Street Stocks and Legend Cars will each compete in a 25-lapper. The Wall Modifieds have the night off.

The May 21 schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 12:30 p.m., with a paid testing session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.

The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 4:00 p.m. and run until 5:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m.

On track action will then begin at 6:00 p.m. with qualifying events to be followed by feature race action for all four divisions.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
