St. Johns, PA- Hoping to fight off threatening rain showers, the staff at Mountain Speedway was determined to get Sunday’s show in without a glitch. It almost worked perfectly, as three of four features were completed before the rains came six laps into the Sport Modified feature. Zane Zeiner of Bath, PA dominated the Late Model feature and secured his second win of the season. Scott Hubler of Coplay, PA notched his second INEX Legends victory of the season and Rich Paciotti of Kunkletown, PA held off several strong Factory Stock competitors to notch his first career victory.

Rick Smith started from the pole position in the 30-lap Late Model feature and was challenged by Mike Sweeney with a bold three wide move on the opening lap. Sweeney tired to get underneath Smith and Adam Cox but the door closed in turn one and Smith went around.

Green flag racing resumed and Kyle Harvell took command over Zane Zeiner, Cox, Craig Lutz and Sweeney.

Zeiner hounded the leader and made the inside pass for the lead stick in lap one on lap seven. Harvell settled back into second as Zeiner began to drive away from the rest of the field.

The yellow flag was displayed when Harvell spun on lap 17. Following a handful of quick green flag laps the caution was displayed once more when without contact, Cox and Harvell both spun on the backstretch.

Zeiner was flawless on the restarts and went on to claim his second straight Late Model victory over Lutz, Sweeney, Harvell and Cox.

Rich Paciotti started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the 20-lap Factory Stock feature over Chris Parry, Brandon Oltra, Paul Morgan, Jr. and Joey Barbush.

A quick yellow flag waved on lap three when Joe D’Angelo and Kenny Kleppinger tangled in turn two. Green flag racing resumed and Matt Schlenker cracked the top five.

Lap after lap, Parry stuck to Paciotti’s rear bumper until a yellow flag waved when Oltra and Morgan tangled in turn three on lap 14. With six laps remaining it was clear that the leader would have his hands full with Parry and third place runner, Schlenker.

Green flag racing resumed and Parry took the race lead on lap 15. Paciotti led the following circuit before Parry retook the lead on lap 17. The duo swapped positions once more and in the end it was Paciotti who took the checkers for his first career victory. Running side-by-side at the line, Schlenker edged Parry for second. Oltra and Barbush completed the top five.

Stephen Gual led the INEX Legends to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap event before David Chapman overtook him for the race lead. Brandon DeBrakilmer held second in the early going, followed by Brandon Michael and Scott Hubler.

Hubler scooted by the cars in front of him and found himself in second. He challenged for the race lead and took the position on lap three.

Despite heavy pressure from DeBrakilmer in the early going, Hubler went on to notch his second victory of the season. DeBrakilmer finished second, followed by Michael and Raven Schrantz. Chapman completed the top five.

Rain halted the 40-lap Sport Modified feature during a yellow flag six laps in. The remaining 34 laps will be made up on Sunday, 5/15.
