ISMA Supermodifieds and Memorial Day Madness events headline holiday weekend

Waterford Speedbowl is prepared for a
blockbuster week, hosting four events over five days beginning Wednesday.
Affordable family fun is a common theme, beginning with this week’s Wild
‘n Wacky Wednesday program. Friday’s Show and Go at the ‘Bowl offers free
grandstands admission, then a pair of annual favorites returns over the
Memorial Day holiday weekend on Saturday and Sunday – the ISMA
Supermodifieds and Memorial Day Madness.

Fans will get a bonus at this week’s Wild ‘n Wacky Wednesday. In addition
to a five-event program which is highlighted by a 20-lap Legends Cars
feature and Wacky Race for the Super X-Cars, the final 13 laps of the
suspended Legends Cars race from May 18 will be completed. All the
action gets started at 7:00pm and adult admission is just $7.00 for the
night with all youth admitted absolutely free.

Friday evening offers a night of spectator drag racing. Almost every
motor vehicle imaginable is eligible to participate in 100 foot drag race
competitions on the Speedbowl’s race surface for just a $25.00 entry fee.
Witness everything from street rods, hot rods, muscle cars, street cars
and trucks to everything in between competing on the track or on display
behind the grandstands in the free car cruise show. Test and tune for
the drags begins at 5:30pm with the elimination rounds following during
the evening. Grandstands admission is absolutely free for all ages.

The 800-horsepower ISMA Supermodifieds have become a Memorial Day Weekend
tradition at the Speedbowl, once again beginning their 2011 championship
chase at the shoreline oval. For fans eager to catch a glimpse of the
fastest short track auto racing machines, Saturday’s 50-lap feature is a
must see event. The Supermodifieds routinely circle the three-eighths
mile Speedbowl in 12-second laps as speeds exceed the century mark. The
track’s four NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions join the Supers
on the program. Qualifying gets started at 5:30pm with main events at
7:00pm Saturday. Adult grandstands admission is $30.00, with youth
admitted for $10.00. Kids age 5 and under are free.

Rounding out the weekend is a night of extremes with Sunday evening’s
Memorial Day Madness. One of the region’s very first aerial fireworks
displays of the year will light up the night sky after the Speedbowl puts
fireworks on the track with non-stop action. The pounding of Detroit’s
finest fabrication in the Demolition Derbies plus the unpredictable
Trailer Race will convert the Speedbowl into a scrap metal yard. A
rollover contest plus ski car race are also part of the evening’s fun.

The gates open at 6:00pm and the smashing begins at 7:00pm. Adults are
$15.00, youth 6 through 14 just $5.00 and age 5 and under are free on
Sunday.
