Active members of the United States Armed Forces who show valid identification at the ticket booth will be guests of promoter Cliff Krause at Wall Stadium Speedway this Saturday night (May 28) as they will be admitted free of charge. Grandstand seating for the Memorial Day weekend stock car racing program will open at 4:00 p.m. and the first race will start at 6:30 p.m., one half hour later than has been the case thus far this season.

“We owe so much to the men and women who serve this country,” office manager Diane Krause, who has been contacting local bases with the offer, said. “It will be great to have them at the track as our guests on Saturday.”

Along with stock car racing, the fans in attendance at Wall Stadium Saturday evening will also be entertained as a representative of New Jersey Sky Diving will parachute onto the speedway infield and representatives of the Navy from Earle will present the colors. Eleven-year-old Christen Sowers will help to honor our nation by singing our National Anthem.

On the speedway, defending Modified champion Chas Okerson of Freehold, who grabbed the opening night victory, and two-time early season winner Anthony Sesely of Matawan will lead the powerful Modified stock cars in Twin 35 lap main events, while defending Blewett Recycling Sportsman champ Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck will pace that division in a 25-lap main event.

United Crane Factory Stock three-time winner Shannon Mongeau of Bradley Beach is expected to return for his division’s 25-lapper and defending Street Stock champ Bill Vanderveen of Beachwood will be looking for glory in his class’ 25-lap main event.

The open cockpit Three Quarter Midgets will visit the speedway for the first time this season in a 25-lap feature, while the INEX Legend Cars will have the night off.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 12:30 p.m., with a paid testing session for competitors then running from 1:30 until 3:30 p.m.

The regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 4:00 p.m., while spectator seating will also open at 4:00 p.m.

Racing action will then begin at 6:30 p.m. with qualifying events to be followed by feature race action for all four divisions.
