Following a pit stop in the early going of the Sport Modified feature Saturday night at Mountain Speedway, Zane Zeiner of Bath, PA drove back to the front of the field and took his second straight Sport Modified win in fashion. Craig Lutz of Miller Place, NY held off his competition and drove to his first career Late Model victory and Joey Helburg of Toms. River, NJ took home his second straight Factory Stock victory. In his first start of the season at the track, Ryan Tidman took top honors in the TQ Midget feature in convincing fashion.

Todd Geist started from the pole and led the Sport Modifieds to the green flag in the 40-lap Sport Modified feature. He led the first circuit over Will Schneider, Chip Wanamaker, Todd Baer and Zane Zeiner.

Wanamaker over took Schneider for the second spot and began to hound Geist for the lead. Meanwhile, Zeiner went to work and moved up to third. He grabbed second from Wanamaker and held the spot until the caution flag flew when Barry Callavini spun on the front stretch. Zeiner gave up his track position and pitted during the lap seven yellow.

Green flag racing resumed and Zeiner began to climb back toward the top five. With Geist still in command, Wanamaker held second.

While running in third at the time, Todd Baer got out of shape and lost the third position to Zeiner on lap 16. He then overtook Wanamaker for second on the following lap and then challenged Geist for the race lead, which he took on lap 18. With apparent mechanical issues shortly after, Wanamaker fell off the pace.

With Zeiner still in command just past halfway, Geist continued to hold second, followed by Mike Skarbowski, Schneider and Nick Pecko until the caution waved when Barry Callavini and Schneider tangled just off of turn two. With nowhere to go, Baer became a victim of the incident and suffered the worst damage.

Green flag racing resumed and Dave Brigati found himself in the fifth spot. He worked over the competition to move all the way to second by the time the checkers flew, but in the end it was Zeiner, who took his second straight Sport Modified victory. Brigati finished as the runner up, followed by Skarbowski, Pecko and Schneider.

Heat race victories went to Will Schneider and Zane Zeiner.

Francis Gross III started from the pole but lost the lead to Craig Lutz on the start of the 30-lap Late Model feature. Mike Sweeney moved into second with Gross, Austin Kochenash and Paul Skodacek in tow.

Sweeney hung with Lutz and made several attempts to take the top spot in the early going. Meanwhile, both Kyle Harvell and Zane Zeiner began to climb toward the top five.

Lutz led at halfway, followed by Sweeney, Harvell, Zeiner and Kochenash but that all change when contact between Zeiner and Harvell put the third place driver in a spin. Both drivers went to the rear of the field for the restart.

Looking to score his first career Late Model victory, Lutz was untouchable over the closing laps and took the win over Sweeney, Kochenash, Zeiner and Harvell.

Heat race wins went to Mike Sweeney and Craig Lutz.

From the pole position, Brandon Oltra led the first circuit of the 20-lap Factory Stock feature over Chris Parry, Joey Barbush, Matt Schlenker and Joey Helburg.

Schlenker climbed to third on the first lap and then Oltra was overtaken for the lead by Parry on lap two. Meanwhile, Helburg began to pick off positions one by one and passed Oltra for the runner up spot on lap five.

Helburg closed in on the leader and Parry continued to hold him off until he pulled to the infield with mechanical problems on lap 12.

Helburg held on over the remaining laps to score his second straight victory in the division over Schlenker, Oltra, Barbush and Kermit Jacoby.

A scary incident took place during the first Factory Stock heat race when Rich Paciotti was spun and made very heavy contact with the turn one fence, on the driver’s side. Luckily, foam blocks line turn one and helped with the severe impact. Paciotti, who is expected to be okay, was extracted from his car and was alert and talking when he was taken to a local hospital.

Factory Stock heat race victories went to Chris Parry and Joey Helburg.

Tim Behmer started from the pole and was quickly overtaken by Buddy Sload on the start of the 25-lap TQ main event before the red flag flew for Mark Janisch, whose car flipped multiple times before making hard contact with the turn three wall.

Green flag racing resumed and Ryan Tidman worked into the second spot and then took the race lead from Sload. He continued to lead on lap nine over Sload, Jeff Kot, Matt Janisch and Robin Johnston.

Johnston moved into third and then brought out the yellow flag when he experienced mechanical problems on lap 22.

Green flag racing resumed and Tidman remained untouchable, as he took the victory over Kot, Alison Cumens, Austin Fehr and Sload.

Heat race wins went to Ryan Tidman and Buddy Sload.
