(LEHIGHTON, PA 6-11-11) Saturday’s race meet at Mahoning Valley Speedway was called due to inclement weather which was prevalent throughout the day in the Lehighton and surrounding areas.
This was the fourth washout of the season with only five events getting into the books thus far.
Moving ahead the speedway will be gearing up for Hand 2 of the Modified 100 Poker Series this coming Saturday evening, June 18 with a 6:00 p.m. start time.
A Modified 100 lap, $3000-to-win feature will headline the night’s slate that also includes the Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods, Pro4 Late Models and Micro Stocks.
After two Poker races run so far, a Wild Card 35-lapper and the initial 100-lapper, point leader Tyler Haydt holds the best poker hand with a pair of kings thanks to runner-ups in both those shows.
Matt Hirschman is right behind with a pair of queens then comes John Bennett with two 9’s. Matt Higgins is also off to a go start in the series with a pair of 4’s.
The Modified 100 Poker Series is an exclusive promotion put on by Mahoning Valley which is designed to award Modified drivers poker cards for their feature finish spots over a select series of races which are then used to come up with the best poker hand when all is said and done.
A $5000 jackpot is then divvied between the top three card holders plus this there will be $1000 going the driver with the worst poker hand. The tournament is played in a 7 card stud format. Drivers must compete in the 5 100 lap races to be eligible for poker money.
Mahoning Valley Speedway, run under the direction of the husband and wife team of Doug and Gena Hoffman, is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton.
