View Full Version : Things are going to change....

First off, this post is not ALL bad, in fact it's got some great news too!

But, first and foremost, we have a problem that MUST be corrected ASAP...and it falls on you the drivers.

I had a report that one of the drivers smelled of alcohol/beer Saturday night before he went out on the track. I wasn't able to personally confirm it, but the report came from two VERY RELIABLE sources. So....this falls on you all. Do we have to breathalyze our events? Do I need to have my corner flagger hold out the breathalyzer when cars are entering the infield for staging? I hope to not have to do this....

I can tell you all for a fact though, the driver who was reported to me will be contacted about this and possibly suspended for the remainder of this racing season. As for future offenses, drivers will be immediately removed from the pits and all points will be stripped for the entire season...suspension of all remaining races will also be put against the driver.

This is serious, I'm taking it serious and you will have to as well. If Big Daddy brings a cooler full of beer to the races and Coach is drunk on the track...both of them will be penalized as noted above. This is not going to be a slap-on-the-wrist penalty... That being said, Big Daddy, you are still allowed to drink your "BEER" in the pits...."ROOT BEER"!

Drivers who report someone drinking will be rewarded....you're not getting a $5,000 reward, but I will offer up a free registration for the event or next event....that's $65 worth of beer that you can drink all night long after the races are done!

Now, for some good news....we received official word that the transponder loop has been fixed. I even noted that it may still be broken and I was re-assured that it was "RECENTLY" repaired. As you may have noticed, there were no tires on the low side of the track on the June 5th race.....and they were not there Saturday night.

For now, we are going to assume that the transponder system is 100% and we will NOT HAND-SCORE this next event....

Now, it is a lot easier to re-check possible computer errors by comparing hand-scored sheets to the printed results, however I'm going to put up a poll....to continue both hand-scoring and transponder scoring....or just use the transponders....

I'm fine with either decision, however if the transponders are working 100%, there should be NO reason to have to hand-score...it'll only lead to cheating and dishonesty...

Woops...forgot to mention...

I understand that this Saturday night enduro was a special race where ANYONE who was wearing a wristband to get into the pits could easily travel to and from the pits to the stands.... Someone could have easily watched the heats and LM feature while throwing a few cold ones back and just didn't think it was anything major to jump into the car for 40 laps...

That being said, this has never been an issue until now and hopefully will not have to be an issue...

Lastly, it almost sounds like I let that person race even after I knew about it....that I did not. I did not hear about it until after the race.....why wasn't something said before the race? ...either to me or to that driver? That, I cannot answer....things got a little hectic just before the race and when the heat is on, something that might be the most important thing on your mind can easily slip away....

I caught wind of it afterwards and by the time I got back into the pits to "catch-up" with that particular driver.....well, almost everyone had a beer in hand....there would have been no way to make an accusation without undeniable proof since half the people were holding beer cans.....

Joe, well said... I enjoy a few cold beers as much as anybody, maybe more AFTER THE RACES:cheers::cheers: BUT you have to be an absolute idiot to drink then go out on the race track !!!!! You put yourself and everyone else in serious jeopardy .. If you don't understand this then I will personally help Joe and the security staff load you and your car up and escort you OUT.. Then maybe we can explain just how stupid drinking BEFORE racing is after or if you get back to your feet !! Joe and Erin put their heart and soul into making this series successful and I personally won't stand for some jackass ruining it for everyone

I'm right there with Maddawg...I'll be right there loading up this idiot's car and getting him out. If you get the chance, take a look at what happened to Jackass Ryan Dunn's Porshe when you drink and drive. Where is he now? Thankfully he didnt take an innocent bystander with him (besides the passenger who was also drinking with him in his Twitter picture).

im not even racing this season and it still pisses me off. you drink and drive on a race track, danger ranger is gonna have a talk with you! oh, and as far as i know, the whole wristband giving access to main grandstands has always been open. i do it every saturday night, go sit with the fans for a bit, than back to the pits for work. nothing special about last saturday night, ive been doing it for years

I think Joe meant it was different for NEETS because the drivers don't normally have that extended amount of time to be able to go and sit and watch the races...you know?

I regularly walk over to the grandstands after my race when we run first so I can mingle with my adoring fans. The food is a lot better there too. Of course as my dear old Dad would say "that's like trading dung for manure", or some words like that.
