Many of the top drivers in asphalt Modified stock car racing are ready to compete in one of the most prestigious events in the sport as Wall Stadium presents the Garden State Classic this Saturday evening (June 25). Current plans call for spectator seating to open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying slated for 6:30 p.m. and main event action set for 7:30 p.m.

This year’s 125-lap format, which will count caution laps through lap 100 before laps 101 through 125 go green, is attracting the attention of several non-regulars to the speedway. Bath, Pennsylvania racing standout Zane Zeiner will be at the track on Saturday looking for Garden State Classic glory. Zeiner’s car owners, Jeff and Sandra Willet of Howell, confirmed Monday that their No. 76 will be in the field.

Also making their intentions of Garden State Classic glory known on Monday were standout driver Jason Treat of Jackson and his car owner Brien Hamer. Hamer said that the team would be debuting an all-new No. 33 in the event.

Zeiner, Treat and any other “invaders” who enter will face plenty of competition from Wall Stadium Modified regulars. Wall’s Mod Squad will be headed by 2011 early season winners Anthony Sesely of Matawan, Freehold’s Chas Okerson, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Tim Arre of Toms River, just to name a few.

In addition to the championship 125-lap Modified race, the Blewett Recycling Sportsman division will compete in a 25-lap main event, while the United Crane Factory Stocks and the INEX Legend Cars also compete in 25-lap feature races. The Street Stocks have the night off.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at 2:00 p.m., with a special paid testing session then running from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., while the regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 4:30 p.m.

Qualifying will then begin at 6:30 p.m. to be followed by feature race action for all four divisions.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
