WALL STADIUM GARDEN STATE CLASSIC EARNING ATTENTION FOR THIS SATURDAY (JUNE 25)

The history and prestige associated with the Garden State Classic Modified stock car race at Wall Stadium continues to attract attention. In fact, two of the third mile paved oval’s most successful drivers have announced that they plan on making their first start of the season this Saturday night in the 125-lap event. Current plans call for spectator seating to open at 4:00 p.m., with qualifying slated for 6:30 p.m. and main event action set for 7:30 p.m.

Seventeen-time Modified winner Ken Woolley, Jr. of Howell says that he plans his first win in the Classic on Saturday night at the wheel of the Scott Brannick No. 51. Freehold’s Steven Reed, an 11-time Modified winner and the 2009 Classic champion, says that he will enter the contest in the Buddy Miller No. 56. Both drivers can be considered favorites judging by their past records at the track.

Earlier this week, Bath, Pennsylvania racing standout Zane Zeiner’s team announced that they would be at the track on Saturday. Zeiner’s car owners, Scott Matarazzo and Jeff and Sandra Willet, confirmed Monday that their No. 76 will be in the field.

Also making their intentions of Garden State Classic glory known on Monday were standout driver Jason Treat of Jackson and his car owner Brien Hamer. Hamer said that the team would be debuting an all-new No. 33 in the event.

Woolley, Reed, Zeiner, Treat and any other “invaders” who enter will face plenty of competition from Wall Stadium Modified regulars. Wall’s Mod Squad will be headed by 2011 early season winners Anthony Sesely of Matawan, Freehold’s Chas Okerson, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Tim Arre of Toms River, just to name a few.

In addition to the championship 125-lap Modified race, the Blewett Recycling Sportsman division will compete in a 25-lap main event, while the United Crane Factory Stocks and the INEX Legend Cars also compete in 25-lap feature races. The Street Stocks have the night off.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area and tire sales open at 1:00 p.m., with a special paid testing session then running from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. Spectator seating will open at 4:00 p.m., while the regular afternoon practice session will then begin at 4:30 p.m.

Qualifying will then begin at 6:30 p.m. to be followed by feature race action for all four divisions.
