With double points being awarded on Saturday, tensions were high on and off the track.
Burt Myers of Walnut Cove was sweating in the GMAC Insurance Modified Series. The points leader didn’t even make a qualifying attempt due
to a broken axle from practice sessions. He was able to take a provisional starting position and drew seventh as his starting spot, but none of
that would matter if his car wasn’t in racing condition by the time the green flag dropped.

Meanwhile, points contender Tim Brown of Rural Hall hoped to take advantage of the situation. He was the fastest qualifier, drew the
outside front row for his start, and grabbed the lead when the race got underway.

Brown had to contend with living legend Junior Miller of Danbury as well as the clutter of lapped traffic. But he emerged victorious in
dominant fashion.

The crew of Myers was able to get things repaired in time, and the #1 car went on to take fourth. Myers stays on top of the points
ladder, although Brown’s win puts a dent in Myers’s lead. Brown is second in the rankings, trailing Myers by 28 points.

After a disappointing performance in the previous event, Chris Fleming jumped back to finish third on Saturday. He rockets from sixth up
to third in the points standings. Jonathan Brown of Winston-Salem drops down to fourth.

In the Webb Heating & A/C Co. Sportsman Series, Defending Champion Kyle Edwards still leads the way. However, he won’t be the champion in
2011: Edwards has decided to not race in the final events of the season since he and his wife are expecting a new child in early August.

The title could go to Robbie Brewer of Winston-Salem, who moves up to second in the points after a victory on Saturday. Tommy Neal of
Walkertown, who has been plagued with bad luck recently, shoots from fifth up to third in the points.

Saturday was a wild night for the 104.1 WTQR Street Stock Series. Defending Champion Matt Cotner of Rural Hall entered the night ranked
second in the points. He drew the pole as his starting position – a dream come true on Double Points Night. But as Billy Gregg of Winston-Salem
fought with him for the lead, Cotner was spun.

As Cotner retaliated and rammed Gregg’s car, John McNeal of Winston-Salem was able to slip into the lead and claim the checkered. McNeal
adds to his sizeable points lead. Matt Cotner loses ground but remains second in the points – tied with his brother, Darren Cotner of King.

In the Freeman’s Auto Center Stadium Stock Series, Drew Moffitt of Winston-Salem brought home the win. Moffitt moves into the points lead
with Jason Tutterow of Mocksville dropping back to second.

The sounds of crunching sheet metal will be heard at the Stadium this Saturday – it’s the annual Night of Destruction presented by ABC45.
There will be a Monster Truck Car Crushing Exhibition, a 109 U-Pull-It Demolition Derby, and racing for all four divisions.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice, qualifying is at 7:10, and the first race is at 8:00. Ticket prices, directions, and more information can be
