The Thompson International Speedway will host a National Championship Series event for the Pro All Stars Series on Thursday, July 21st. This 100-lap Championship race will be the headliner of a racing double header that will also feature a 40-lap Tour-Type Modified race plus 5 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions.

The PASS National Championship Series race will bring together PASS Late Model teams from both the North Series and the South Series. Most of the North Series teams know the Thompson Speedway well due to the number of times that they have raced at the ultra-fast oval. But, South Series race teams are confident that their experience on the big track in recent years will put everyone on equal footing. Add to this competitors from Thompson’s Super Late Model division and it shapes up to be must see race.

Johnny Clark of Hallowell, ME leads the PASS points race in the North Series and it is Jay Fogleman of Durham, NC who tops the points chase in the South Series. Fogleman also leads the PASS National points standings. The Thompson race will be a key event in the National standings.

A full field of PASS Super Late Models is expected with a competitive mix of race teams from both the North and South Series. Ben Rowe of Turner, ME was last year’s PASS race winner at Thompson. He sits second in the North points standings only 17 makers behind Clark. Rowe’s National standing is also second but the margin is a mere two points behind Fogleman. Fogleman, in last year’s race, looked like a sure winner until the final four laps of the event when Rowe was able to move into the top spot and go on to win the exciting race. Other PASS competitors familiar to Thompson fans will be Derek Ramstrom, Alexander Gingras, Travis Benjamin, and many more. Fogleman, who will lead the southern contingent, is expected to be joined by Andy Loden, Preston Peltier, Ryan Blaney and a host of other South Series regulars.

Joining the Pro All Stars in the second part of the double header will be some of the northeast’s best Modified drivers who will be returning for the second of three 40-lap shoot outs on the 2011 Thompson schedule. Todd Szegedy, 2003 NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Champion, claimed the Tour-Type race back on June 2nd. Ted Christopher followed Szegedy across the line with Ryan Preece, Mike Stefanik and Steven Reed rounding out the top five. This second race in the series of three is expected to attract even more Tour-Type competitors in what is destined to be another great racing event.

The Plus part of the Thursday night schedule is made up of five of Thompson’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series divisions. The Sunoco Modifieds, Late Models, Thompson Modifieds, XTRA/MART Limited Sportsman and Monster Mini Stocks will also be part of an exceptional night of racing. Grandstand will open at 4 PM with racing starting fifteen minutes early at 5:45 PM. The full race day schedule is available on the Thompson web site www.thompsonspeedway.com (http://www.thompsonspeedway.com).
