The much anticipated inaugural event for the N.E. Modified Series is quickly approaching at full throttle. Many of the top asphalt Sport Modified drivers have already shown interest in competing at the Keystone state's 1/3 mile oval known as Mountain Speedway. N.E. Modified Series director, Mike Odwazny, will be returning from the Sunshine state for this very special event. Drivers will be seeing the "green" in more ways than one, as a cool $1500 will be handed over to the winner. Race teams from New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania are expected to compete in the 75 lapper, which will pay a nearly $8500 total purse, with 24 cars entered.

The concept of the N.E. Modified Series is to provide exciting pavement pounding northeastern style asphalt modified racing, at an affordable budget minded level. The series will utilize a rules package that blends cars from Connecticut's SK modifieds, both modified divisions at Wall Stadium in New Jersey, Mountain Speedway's Sport Modified division, and former New York SST style cars, together on a level playing field. Additionally, to make it even easier for teams from "north of the border" to attend, the durable Hoosier 1070 tire will be required on the right side, with either the 1070 or 1055 Hoosier tire permitted on the left side. One change tire will be allowed during the race, and you must start the feature on the same tires used to qualify.

Time trials will set the field, with the pole winner "rolling the dice" to determine the amount of cars to be inverted for the feature. AAMCO transmissions of Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, will present the "smooth shift" Pole award worth $100. A last chance qualifier will fill out the 24 car starting grid.

Action will get underway at 2 PM, with pits opening at 10:30 AM. Pit passes for the day will be $35 per person, and practice will begin at 12:30 PM. Drivers who plan on attending are urged to contact Series director, Mike Odwazny, at (570)807-7168 to pre-register. A printable entry form is available on the series website at www.nemodified.com (http://www.nemodified.com), and the $50 entry fee can be paid on race day.

The event will be run in conjunction with the Brad Kline Memorial Street Stock Open, and the INEX Legends will also be on the race card. Grandstands will open at 12 noon, and admission for the afternoon will be just $10 for adults, with children 10 and younger admitted free of charge, an absolute bargain for Modified fans both young and old.
