TIM ARRE RACES TO WALL STADIUM MODIFIED WIN ON FIRST RESPONDERS NIGHT

Veteran Modified stock car driver Tim Arre raced to victory in the 40-lap main event at Wall Stadium Saturday night. The popular Toms River veteran made his first start since a major crash in July to take the “First Responders Night” win.

Farmingdale’s Billy Cole III jumped to the lead at the initial green flag, but never had an easy go of it. Almost from the start, Arre and Roger Coss of Lafayette were right on his bumper as they fought for second spot. Arre was finally able to gain control of second before setting his sites on Cole. Arre finally found his path into the lead at the halfway mark and then raced on to the win.

Cole and Coss were strong to the finish crossing the line second and third, with defending champion Chas Okerson of Freehold fourth and current point leader Anthony Sesely of Matawan fifth.

“This is just a great night for us to win,” Arre said after the race. “We’ve had some very tough races and I am so glad to win this for (car-owner) Bob Nelson. We also want to honor all the First Responders on this very special night.”

The INEX Legend Cars were also in the spotlight Saturday with “Twin 25” lap main events. In the first one, invader Mike Alcaro raced to a thrilling win over Willingboro’s Zach Alspach, Howell’s Robert French, Trevor Alspach of Willingboro and Kenny Van Wickle of Manasquan.

In the second Legend Cars 25-lapper, French grabbed an impressive victory over Trevor Alspach, Dan Roslin, Zach Alspach and Van Wickle.

Steve West of Howell took down his second win of the year in the 25-lap Sanzari/Shinn Factory Stock feature race. The former Legend Cars standout was chased across the finish line by Rick Siddons of Beachwood, Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach, Whitey Miller of Jamesburg and Toms River’s Marty Van Druten.

Ron Frees of Browns Mills grabbed his second straight win on the 25-lap nightcap for the Street Stocks. Nick Shaw of Chatham, Jackson’s Howie Conk, Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen and Mike Tillett of Beachwood completed the top five.

Wall Stadium returns to action this Saturday night (August 20) for “Carnival Night”. On the card will be the Blewett Recycling Sportsman cars in a 75-lap main event, while the Street Stocks and Legend Cars battle in 25-lappers. The open cockpit Three Quarter Midgets will also be on the card. Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event will take the green flag at 7:00 p.m.
