Mother Nature Forces Mountain Speedway to Update Schedule with “Labor Day Weekend Doubleheader Spectacular”

For most of the racing season so far, rain outs were far and few between at Mountain Speedway. That has since changed, as several shows have seen the wrath of Mother Nature, therefore in need of make up dates in an already overbooked late summer schedule. Most recently, two “B Program” shows, which consists of the Sport Modified, Late Model and Factory Stock divisions have went by the wayside because of rain. In an effort to make up one of the shows, the management at the track came up with the “Labor Day Weekend Double Header Spectacular”.

Originally scheduled for August 6, the 75-lap double points Sport Modified event, featuring $1,500 to win ($160 green flag money), will take place on Saturday, September 3rd. The Late Models are also on the card for the afternoon, along with double points on the line for the Factory Stocks, as they will take to the track for 30-laps of action.

Wristbands from the August 6th rain out will be accepted. There is a $50 driver registration fee for Sport Modified driver and pit admission is set at $40. Grandstand admission for ages 11 and older is $15 and children 10 years and younger will be admitted for free.

An earlier start time will be announced in the near future and folks are asked to keep an eye on the track website and Facebook page for the exact times. Starting the Saturday show earlier will allow the teams to work on their cars that evening to properly prepare for the Sunday show.

Sunday, September 4th will feature a regular show for the Sport Modifieds, Late Models and Factory Stocks, plus the INEX Legends are also on the card.

Pit gates on Sunday will open at 11:00 AM. Grandstands will open at 12:00 noon and warm ups will start at 12:30 PM. Heat racing will kick off at 2:00 PM.

Regular pit admission fees apply for the Sunday show, with grandstand admission for ages 11 set at $10. Children 10 years and younger will be admitted for free.

So far this season, there is one other “B Program” event to make up. The make up date is yet to be set and it will be announced in the very near future.

It’s been some time since the track held a doubleheader weekend, with all of the same main divisions running two days during the weekend. As drivers head down the homestretch toward the end of the 2011 season and with points battles heating up, the “Labor Day Weekend Double Header Weekend” should be one for the storybooks at Mountain Speedway.

Mountain Speedway is just minutes from Hazleton located on St. John’s Road, between Routes 93 and 309 in the Pocono foothills of Pennsylvania.
