St. Johns, PA-.In conjunction with round no. 4 of the Mountain Madness Enduro Series at Mountain Speedway, several INEX Legends drivers took to the asphalt oval on Sunday with hopes of visiting victory lane. When it was all said and done, Matt Papa of Nassau, NY took the checkered flag to win his 22nd overall feature of the season. TJ Kapish of Mountaintop, PA came into the day with the points lead in the 6/8-Cylinder enduro division and left with an even larger lead, as he dominated the 100-lap enduro. Robert Fink ran in the second spot for most of the 100-lap 4-Cylinder enduro, but a late race pass on Sam Ryan sealed the win for the Sheatown, PA native.

Scott Sipe started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the 100-lap 6/8-Cylinder enduro over Dave Baker, Jr., TJ Kapish, Steve Tito and Tom Szoke.

It didn’t take long for Kapish to overtake the second spot before he challenged Sipe for the lead on lap two.

With Kapish in command, Bill Schwenck cracked the top five and then overtook Szoke for third on lap 10. Schwenck climbed to the second spot and then the skies opened up on lap 40.

Even with a front wheel drive car, Schwenck wasn’t able to reel in the leader in the final half of the event, as Kapish set a dominating pace. He went on to take the convincing victory over Schwenck, Sipe, Shane Bone and Szoke.

Alex Doyle led his fellow 4-Cylinder competitors to the drop of the green in the 100-lap enduro. Doyle quickly lost the lead to Robert Fink on the initial start. Fink led the opening lap over Larry Spencer III, Sam Ryan, Joe Heintzelman and Mike Harding.

Ryan overtook Spencer for second on the second lap and then pressured Fink for the top spot. Ryan finally made a bid for the lead on lap 22 and he became the new race leader.

Fink settled into the second spot and rode behind the leader, with Harking, Ken Harper and last place starter, Ed Michael, in tow.

The top two drivers waged a terrific battle throughout the entire event and after swapping the lead on several occasions in the last ten laps, Fink came out with the lead on lap 97.

Fink crossed the stripe to score his first career enduro victory, over Ryan, Harper, Bill Rice and Bruce Miller.

Several INEX Legends drivers took to the speedway for a 20-lap feature event. Dave Chapman started on the pole position and led the opening lap over Raven Schrantz, Matt Papa, Car Jones and Scott Hubler.

Papa shot by Schrantz and then overtook Chapman for the lead on the second lap. Hubler climbed to the second spot shortly after and Schrantz retained third.

Papa had quite an advantage over Hubler, who had hoped for a yellow flag to close the deficit between the two. His wish came true when the caution flag waved on lap 14 when Bobby Jones spun on the backstretch.

Green flag racing resumed, but Papa outgunned Hubler and drove away to take the victory over Hubler, Schrantz, Robert Silver and C. Jones.
