(LEHIGHTON, PA 8-27-11) Mahoning Valley Speedway has cancelled their scheduled night of races for August 27 due to rain. Rain had passed over the Lehighton area for a short period during the morning and although it had cleared some, the National Weather Service is calling for more rain to start falling at 6:00 pm and not let up until late Sunday all due from the effects of hurricane Irene.

The night’s action was to be headlined with a 35-lap Poker Series Wild Card race for the Modifieds as well as regular feature for the Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro4 Late Models.

There is no word as to when or if the Wild Card Poker Series race will be made up.

Moving ahead to next weekend, on Saturday, September 3 at 6:00 p.m. the Street Stock class will be in the spotlight with the annual Labor Day 100. The 100-lap feature race will pay $1000-to-win. All regular tracks classes will also be in action as well as the 4C Super Modifieds.

Coming up on September 10 it will be a regular program plus the Micro Stocks who will be racing for the final time this season.

On September 17 the ATQMRA three quarter Midgets return to the track and are slated to run twin features. All regular track classes will be competing as well.

On the 24th of September it will be a regular five division show and then the season finale will take place on October 1 with Hand 5 of the Modified 100 Poker Series. This will also be the final point race for all regular track classes. The 4C Super Mods have also been added to the card.

Mahoning Valley Speedway, run under the direction of the husband and wife team of Doug and Gena Hoffman, is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton.
