Despite a late afternoon passing shower, the drivers and track crew at Mountain Speedway dried out the racing surface and then completed a three division show in just over an hour and a half Saturday night. When it was all said and done, Bobby Jones of Palmerton. PA stood in victory lane as the Modified victor and Mike Garris, Sr. of Orefield, PA brought home his first Street Stock victory at the speedway. Pete Verwys of East Stroudsburg, PA took his second win of the season in the FWD division.

With a scheduled distance of 50-laps, the Modified division drivers took to the track for time trials. One of the biggest surprises of the night was Factory Stock driver, Brandon Oltra, who was behind the wheel of Geary Rinehimer’s Sport Modified, ran the quickest time.

Following the redraw, Nick Pecko start from the pole position and led the opening lap over Tommy Wanick III, Bobby Jones, Kyle Ebersole and Todd Baer.

Jones shot by Wanick and into second on lap one and using an outside move, he then proceeded to overtake the leader on the backstretch. Meanwhile, Ebersole charged toward the front and overtook Pecko, who was running second, on lap four.

Wanick spun to bring out the caution on lap 13 and another yellow flag flew two laps later when Oltra looped his machine in turn one.

Green flag racing resumed and Jones continued to lead over Ebersole, Pecko, Baer and Wanick.

Ebersole finally made several moves on the leader in the last ten laps of the event, but he spun in turns three and four with four laps remaining.

Green flag racing resumed and although Ebersole climbed back to second, Jones went on to take the victory, which was his fourth of the season. Pecko finished third, followed by Baer and Wanick.

Sam Grow led the Street Stock field to the drop of the green flag in the 25-lap feature before Jeff McGrath overtook him for the lead.

McGrath led the opening circuit over Mike Garris, Sr., Grow, Bernie Uphold and Chris Burge.

Burge got by Uphold and moved into the fourth position on the second lap and then he and Justin Mooney overtook Grow for third and fourth respectively on lap three

The yellow flag waved on lap 10 when Bill Verwys got tagged and pounded the front stretch wall with the right front of his car. Luckily, Verwys did not appear to be injured following the severe impact.

Green flag racing resumed and Garris lurched out in front of McGrath. Steve Shultz and Chip Wanamaker began to make their presence known and steered into the top five.

Garris continued to lead at halfway, followed by Mooney, Shultz, Wanamaker and McGrath.

Despite pressure from both Mooney and Wanamaker, Garris held his own over the remainder of the event and notched his first win at the speedway. Mooney settled for a career best second place finish at the track, followed by Wanamaker, Shultz and McGrath.

Heat race wins went to Mike Garris, Sr. and Jeff McGrath.

Jay Skupski started from the pole and led the field to the drop of the green in the 20-lap FWD feature. However, the yellow flag quickly waved when Larry Spencer III got turned around in turn one.

Green flag racing resumed and Skupski led the first circuit over Frank Hughes, Trevor Ahouse, Eric Banashefski and Justin Hughes.

Banashefski climbed to third and then battled with F. Hughes for second. The pair tangled, which brought out the lap one caution.

With the green flag back in the air, Pete Verwys climbed to third. He then got by Ahouse for second and set his sights on the leader. Verwys caught and then passed Skupski for the lead on lap four and then began to put some distance between himself and second.

Meanwhile, Banashefski, who was on a mission, seemed to come from nowhere and moved back into the top five. He wheeled through traffic and by halfway he was back up to the second spot, right behind Verwys.

Despite multiple pass attempts, Banashefski came up short and had to settle for second. As for Verwys, it was his second victory in his last three starts. Skupski brought his car home in the third position, followed by Brandon Oltra and Ahouse.

Heat race victories went to Cody Roth and Jay Skupski.
