18 cars on the entry list and I called that a week ago.. This has to be the DUMBEST move NASCAR has ever made... This is not gonna help the NWMT Series, What the hell were they thinking????

Raindate is Monday. I may not go if weather is iffy. I would have preferred a Saturday race date myself.

The track requested a modifed date. Its a shame they are going to get a small field. I think the bigger issue is is this a tour or not. Every year the schedule comes out and everyone complains there aren't enough races. Jokingly calling it the Connecticut tour. The tour races outside of New England exactly three times this year. One of those is Riverhead. The other two were Bristol and Canada. Now it seems like folks would rather just not go. The tour is never going back to the New England short tracks as long as the MRS is around. I know the purses aren't great but two races outside of the northeast all year doesn't sound too crazy. The ACT tour races as far south as Waterford and as far north as Canada and nobody complains. It seems to me the tour has an identity issue

Ya, but 1 thing you forgot is the ACT Tour will draw anywheres from 35 to 45 cars per event either USA or Canada

Still planning on the RoC 200 at Oswego Saturday night and the WMT 150 at Delaware on Sunday. Of course, the weather forecast will have the final say.

Actually there was couple times NASCAR thought it was a smart idea to send the West Series to tracks in Texas that were closer to Charlotte than Los Angeles.(like a minimum 2,800 mile round trip)

not one for starting rumors for the sake of starting rumors, but I'm hearing that some of the guys on the roster of 18 are not going ( maybe one or two of them) - any one know anything for fact?

Personaly as someone that has raced both weekly and on a few different tours i dont think there is any problem with going to canada. That is why it is called a tour, if you dont want to travel run one of the many weekly nascar tracks. The problem that most car owners have are the purses, not the travel. Yes i know it is also an issue for the crew with time off etc. Back when i raced ProCup, we would be in canada one week and at south boston va the next. This was almost ten years ago but the races all had a minimum of $1500 to start and a point fund that payed more for 15th that the mod tour pays to win, all with motors that were half the cost. work on the purse and points fund and there would be no issue getting cars to the track. then again most teams that complain are showing up in quarter million dollar plus tractor trailers, and i have yet seen one of those win a race. I bet Richie Evans wouldnt be complaining, probably would have made it his 4th race of the week.

At the risk of circulating rumors - who will not be going that is listed on the official entry sheet ?

Personally I am looking forward to Delaware. The WSMT race at Caraway on Friday had 13 cars and it was the best race I saw all week. I understand there is an expense involved, but there is an expense for Whelen to sponsor these tours and if nobody supports Phil and Whelen we might not have a tour. I know there are issues with NASCAR, but I am afraid what would happen without them, especially in these difficult economic times.

I know of three others, on the list, that most likely won't be there.

It appears that NASCAR Home Tracks will have coverage, in fact they have already posted some things this morning.

Turns one and two appears to be the challenge for drivers, but they seem to be figuring it out - well some of them. Silk and Santos look good there.

Second practice on track now. The two local drivers are running a different groove than the rest of the field- staying on the bottom lane in both turns. Time will tell if it pays off. They are not the fastest right now.

Linda

Ronnie Silk. I got a call from one of the crew and they said the track was a little rough but pit road was OK. But he did say the track in general was really nice and the staff was very accomodating to them. The track even had a BBQ for the teams after qualifying. It would be nice if other tracks did the same to show their appreciation for the teams.
