SEASON RESUMES THIS WEEKEND

Wall Stadium Speedway, the “home of auto racing at the Jersey Shore,” survived Hurricane Irene last weekend with no real damage and will resume the 2011 season this weekend. On tap for Friday night is a free to the public Cruise Night with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. and stock car racing takes the spotlight Saturday night with gates opening at 5:00 p.m. and racing starting at 7:00 p.m.

“I am real happy to say that Wall Stadium got through the storm with no real damage,” manager Diane Krause said Monday. “We have a little clean up to do, but that is about it. The power has been restored and we are back in business. The office will be open all week and we’ll get back to our schedule this weekend.”

After sitting quiet during the storm last weekend, the fun returns to the historic track this Friday night with the free to the public Cruise Night. Plans again call for classic cars, muscle cars, street rods and racecars to be parked in the large, paved pit area at the speedway. Food will be available from the speedway’s refreshment stands and participants will get the chance to cruise around Wall Stadium’s famous third mile high banked oval as the track’s pace car will lead groups of cars around the track though out the evening. Music will set the cruise night mood and gates open at 5:00 p.m.

On Saturday night, the fans will be in the spotlight as “Banner Night” festivities will be highlighted. Fans are reminded to finish up banners for their favorite driver for a chance to win prizes. On the track, both Modified stock cars and the INEX Legend Cars will celebrate the Labor Day weekend with 40-lap main events, while the Street Stocks, Blewett Recycling Sportsman cars and the Sanzari/Shinn Factory Stocks compete in 25-lap feature races. Spectator seating opens at 5:00 p.m. for Saturday night’s events, while the competitor gates open at 3:30 p.m.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track’s email address. More information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com (http://www.wallspeedway.com).
