Charlie Kremer III raced from fifth on the starting grid to win the Blewett Recycling Sportsman stock car 25-lap feature race Saturday night at Wall Stadium Speedway. It was the second win of the year for the Toms River resident.

Trevor Alspach of Willingboro was the first leader of the event as Kremer started to pick his way to the front. By lap seven Kremer had advanced to second, but then slipped a few spots in a scuffle while defending champ Kevin Eyres of Colts Neck advanced to the runner-up spot.

Both Eyres and Kremer were right on Alspach’s rear bumper as the field passed the halfway point. Lap fifteen became the turning point in the event when the front-runners touched and scrambled on the front stretch. With the yellow flag never waving Kremer was able to find the opportunity to race into the lead and then on to the win.

Howell’s Kevin Davison was second, while Brick’s Joe Mongeau, Eyres and Howell’s Chris Lane completed the top five.

“I think it was just a racing deal,” Kremer said of the front stretch incident among the leaders. “I just got real lucky and was able to drive to the inside. That’s how I got the lead.”

Alspach still enjoyed a great evening of racing as he topped the 25-lapper for the INEX Legend Cars. Alspach started fifth and took the lead on lap 19. Derek Hopkinson of Toms River and Jackson’s Dan Roslin were a tight second and third, while Todd McClure of Manville and Wall’s Robert French completed the top five.

Brick’s Ronnie Mullen chased down early leader Neil Katz to take the lead with just four circuits remaining in the non-stop 25-lapper for the Sanzari/Shinn Factory Stocks. Katz was the runner-up, while Howell’s Steve West, Toms River’s Marty Van Druten and Robert St. Hilaire were third through fifth.

Ron Frees of Browns Mills appeared to be home free for his fifth straight Street Stock win, but when his car failed a post-race inspection point leader Howie Conk of Jackson was awarded the win. Bayville’s Mike Tillett was the runner-up, with Rick Kopf of Keyport third, Beachwood’s Bill Vanderveen fourth and Nick Shaw of Chatham fifth.

Robin Johnston of Wayne, Pa. raced to his second win of the year in the 25-lapper for the TQ Midgets. Mike Tidaback was the runner-up, with Donnie Adams crossing the finish line third.

Emily Krause of Holmdel, the daughter of track operators Cliff and Diane Krause, led every lap of the Powder Puff race for the ladies, stretching an impressive advantage over runner-up Jessica McKeon.

In go kart action, James Johnson won the open kart race, Jared DiGiantamasso won the Jr. Gold event and D. Colandra was tops in the Sr. Champ division.

Wall Stadium offers motorsports action on both Saturday night and Sunday afternoon this coming weekend. On the Saturday night (9/17) the Modifieds will compete in the 76-lap “John Blewett III Memorial.” Blewett was a championship driver who lost his life in a racing accident in Connecticut four years ago.

Also on the Saturday night card will be the INEX Legend Cars, the Factory Stocks and the Street Stocks in 25-lap main events. The evening will also feature a tribute to racing supporter Don Ling. Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event will take the green flag at 7:00 p.m.

Then on Sunday the speedway will host a classic car show from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m., to be followed immediately by Enduro Car racing for 6 and 8 cylinder divisions. Each class will compete in a 100-lap race. Enduro racing starts at 3:00 p.m. with grandstand gates opening an hour earlier.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track's email address. More information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com (http://www.wallspeedway.com).
