Wall Stadium Speedway will take time to honor the memory of one of its most successful and popular drivers as it celebrates the “John Blewett III Memorial” this Saturday evening. Spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. with the first race of the evening slated for 7:00 p.m.

Blewett, who was very successful in Modified stock car racing where ever he competed, lost his life in a facing accident in Thompson, Connecticut four years ago. Many members of the Blewett family plan on being at the track on Saturday evening, including standout driver Jimmy Blewett who plans on driving in the Modified race at the wheel of the Jeff Willett owned No. 76.

The Modified stock cars will be in the spotlight competing in a 76-lap main event. Current point leader Anthony Sesely of Matawan is expected to be in the field, as are other 2011 main event winners including Chas Okerson of Freehold, Tim Arre of Toms River, Chris Hamilton of North Haledon and Roger Coss of Lafayette, just to name a few.

In addition, the Blewett Recycling Sportsman racers have been invited to compete in a special 38-lap main event, while the INEX Legend Cars, Street Stocks and the Sanzari/Shinn Factory Stocks are all slated to compete in 25-lap main events.

Speedway faithful will also take a few minutes during the evening to honor racing car-owner, sponsor and supporter Don Ling. Speedway manager Diane Krause reminds fans and competitors to call the track office if they wish to be involved in the salute with sentiments. The track’s food drive for victims of Hurricane Irene, which started on September 10, will also continue.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday; with a special paid practice being offered from 2:30 until 4:30 p.m. Regular practice will then start at 5:00 p.m. and grandstand seating will also open at 5:00 p.m. The first qualifying event will take the green flag at 7:00 p.m.

Wall Stadium will also be a busy place on Sunday (9/18/2011) as a rod and custom car show will be presented in the paved pit area from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. to be followed immediately by a pair of 100 lap Enduro races. While the pit area will be open during car show hours for spectators to check out the special cars, the grandstand will open shortly before the 3:00 p.m. start for the Enduro races.

During the car show all of the special cars to be parked in the large, paved pit area at the speedway. Food will be available from the speedway’s refreshment stands and participants will get the chance to cruise around Wall Stadium’s famous third mile high banked oval as the track’s pace car will lead groups of cars around the track though out the day. Music will set the cruise night mood.

For the Enduro racing portion of the day, a 100-lap main event for the 6 cylinder powered cars and a 100-lapper for the 8 cylinder powered cars will be presented. While not a sanctioned event, NEETS rules will be followed for the Enduro activities. An entry fee of $50 has been set per car and driver, while crewmembers will enter the pit area for $20. Enduro racing grandstand tickets will be available for $10.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track’s email address. More information is also available at www.wallspeedway.com.
