Indoor Midget Auto
Racing will return to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center
(Providence, R.I.) in 2012 for two different,
exciting days of action on Saturday evening,
March 10 and Sunday afternoon, March 11.
For the first time ever, the headline Three-
Quarter size Midget race cars will be featured
in a 100-lap event on Sunday, March 11.

This event will feature a halfway pit stop for
all cars on lap 50. The red flag will be thrown
and teams will be allowed to make repairs and
changes to their cars without penalty as long
they are done inside of the arena and in front of
the crowd.

As an exciting twist, all cars that had been involved
in crashes or dropped from the race with
mechanical problems in the first half, will be
allowed to return to the race at that point and
scored only one lap behind!

When the second half of the race begins, fans
will witness two races. There will, of course, be
the race for the lead and top positions at the
front of the field. Meanwhile, there will be a
second “race within a race” between drivers
that are trying to have the first car one lap
down. That’s because when a yellow appears
in the second half, the first car one-lap behind
will get the “Lucky Dog” and get their lost lap
back.

Saturday’s program will follow the more traditional
indoor race format witnessed by thousands
in the past. The headline feature will be
a 40-lapper for the TQ-Midgets.

Champ Go-karts will share the program with
the TQ-Midgets both days. Sunday’s racing
will start at 2 p.m., while the initial green on
Saturday is at 7 p.m.

Each class will run qualifying and heat races
along with feature events each day.

Last year’s third annual Coffee Cup race was
won by former NASCAR Whelen Modified
Tour champion Ted Christopher of Plainville,
Conn. Christopher, who also triumphed in the
indoor TQ-Midget race in Atlantic City, N.J.,
in 2011, has already confirmed he will be in
attendance to defend his title.

Tickets for the Providence event will go on
sale on Friday, September 23, at 10 a.m. on line
or through Ticketmaster outlets and at the
Dunkin’ Donut Center box office.

Information on the race is available at
www.aarn.com or by calling (609)-888-3618.
