The 57th annual Spencer Speedway Awards Banquet is schedule to take place Saturday, October 8, at the Newark Legion, on Route 31 in Newark , NY . Dinner will start at 6:30 p.m. , followed immediately by the awards program.
In 2011 Spencer Speedway was able to run 14 racing programs, between June and September. The opening two shows in May were rained out, as early Spring rains hampered many speedways throughout the Northeast.
The Sunoco Modifieds led the way in 2011. The point race came down to the last night of racing between Kevin Timmerman (4 feature wins) and Mike Leaty (5 feature wins). Amy Catalano (3 feature wins) had an outside opportunity to also win the title. Kevin Timmerman made all the right moves and won the 2011 Sunoco Modified Spencer Speedway Title.
Despite an early season roll by Jim Steffenhagen Jr., winning four features in a row, Kris Hillegeer bounced back winning five in a row, plus one later in the season to claim the new Super Stock title.
Tim Faro finished tenth in Super Six track points in 2010. In 2011 he bounced back with six feature wins to win the Super Six track title.
In the Auto Value Scorpions, it came down to a battle between Mike Bradshaw and Alison Knoepfler. A ninth place finish on the final night of racing secured the four cylinder title for Bradshaw.
This year’s Banquet tickets can be purchased at the Speedway , at DeRidder’s Garage or by calling the speedway at (315)589-3018. Tickets are $25 per person. Drivers attending the banquet must their tickets ordered by September 30.
