St. Johns, Pa- After being rescheduled several times since July, Autograph and Camera Day took place for the “A Program” Sunday at Mountain Speedway. Fans received treats and autographs from many of the tracks stars before they had the opportunity so see some great asphalt racing action, which included victories by Matt Hirschman of Northampton, PA, who claimed top honors in the Modified division. Chip Wanamaker of Walnut port, PA notched his fifth Street Stock victory and Pete Verwys of Stroudsburg, PA scored his third-straight FWD feature victory. With his fourth straight victory, Matt Pappa took the checkers in INEX Legend action and Kyle Fuatesi was the Bandolero victor.

Lenny Fischer led the Modified field to the drop of the green flag in the 40-lap feature. He led the opening circuit over Nick Pecko, Eddie Brunnhoelzl III and Allen Creveling.

Matt Hirschman started eighth and moved into the fourth spot when he got by Creveling on the second lap. One lap later, Pecko made a pass for the lead on Fischer stick and he took command of the event.

The first yellow flag waved when Barry Callavini, Matt Wentz, Kyle Ebersole and Creveling tangled in turn four. From the second spot, Hirschman lined up alongside Pecko for the restart. One lap later he climbed to the lead.

The yellow waved again, this time on lap six, when Fisher made contact with Todd Baer. Several others had contact in the incident, including Earl Paules and Roger Coss.

Green flag racing resumed and only eight laps in, Ebersole attempted to get underneath Pecko in turns three and four. Ebersole’s left front tire caught the apron of the track, which shot him up into Pecko.

By this point in the event, Bobby Jones, who appeared to be driving a rocket, held the second spot behind Hirschman. Brunnhoelzl retained third, followed by Ken Vogel, Jr. and 20th place starter, Brad Van Houten.

With the green still flag back in the air, Dave Brigati cracked the top five on lap 22 and then lost the position to Baer three laps later.

Despite many challenges for the lead, Jones was forced to settle for second, as Hirschman claimed his first win at the speedway in his first start of the season. Vogel finished third, followed by Baer and Brunnhoelzl.

Dave Brigati, Bobby Jones and Matt Hirschman were heat race winners. Earl Paules won the consi.

Sam Danaher started from the pole position in the 25-lap Street Stock feature and was quickly overtaken by Chris Burge for the lead. Alan Schlenker climbed to second, with Daryn Miller in tow.

Chip Wanamaker cracked the top five when he got by Danaher on lap one and Miller moved by Schlenker to take the second spot a lap later.

Steve Clark battled his way into the top five, but was forced to restart from the rear of the field following some contact with Miller in turns one and two on lap seven. Green flag racing resumed with Burge leading over Schlenker, Wanamaker, Josh Mooney and Steve Shultz.

With the green flag back out, Wanamaker disposed of Schlenker and then battled with Burge and took the race lead on lap eight.

The red flag was displayed on lap 13. Jeff McGrath was battling for the sixth spot. Schlenker spun his mount in turns three and four and then McGrath caught a piece of the action. He spun up the track and was drilled by Mike Garris, Sr., who had nowhere to go. Despite heavy damage on his racecar, McGrath appeared uninjured.

Racing resumed with Wanamaker in front of Burge, Mooney, Ricky Ross, Jr. and Shultz. It didn’t take long for Ross to make his presence known, as he overtook Mooney for third and then grabbed the runner up spot from Burge on lap 18.

Shultz passed Burge as well, but he was spun from the position and forced to restart from the rear with Burge on lap 18.

Green flag racing resumed and Clark, who had just rejoined the top five, took third from Mooney. Meanwhile, Ross looked high and low for a line by the leader, but he ran out of time.

Wanamaker went on to take the checkered flag for the fifth time this season. Ross settled for second, followed by Clark, Mooney and Miller.

Heat race victories went to Steve Clark, Chip Wanamaker and Steve Shultz.

Larry Spencer III led the FWD drivers to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature, but two yellow flags flew before a lap was scored.

The first waved when Frank Hughes was turned in turn one and the second flew when Trevor Ahouse and Cody Roth tangled in turn one.

Racing resumed and Spencer led the opening lap over Justin Hughes, Eric Banashefski, Ahouse and Pete Verwys.

Ahouse took the third spot from Banashefski on the second circuit and then grabbed second when Hughes got out of shape in turn two. Verwys followed through to take the third spot.

Spencer continued to lead over Ahouse, Verwys, Roth and J. Hughes at halfway, but things got exciting in a hurry.

Ahouse worked the outside and tried to make a move on Spencer. Meanwhile, Verwys sat in third, taking it all in. Trying to hold off his rival (and friend) on lap 18, Spencer’s car pushed up the track in turn two. At the same time, Ahouse came down the track and the duo slowed for a bit, which allowed Verwys to scoot to the bottom and into the lead. Roth moved into second. Ahouse held third, followed by Banashefski and Brandon Oltra.

Verwys went on to lead the remaining laps to score his third straight victory of the season and Roth rebounded from the earlier yellow to finish second. Banashefski was in the top five on the final lap and was spun from contention before the checkers flew, which allowed Oltra to net a third place finish, followed by J. Hughes and Ahouse.

Pete Verwys and Justin Hughes were heat race winners.

Carl Jones led the INEX Legends drivers to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature. He led the opening circuit over Raven Schrantz, Steve Hershey, Brandon Michael and Scott Hubler before Schrantz grabbed the lead.

The yellow flag waved on the second lap when Hershey was spun on the backstretch. Following the restart, Matt Pappa jumped up to the fourth spot.

Meanwhile, Hubler began to make things happen and on the fifth lap he got by Jones to take second. He then worked on Schrantz and took the lead on lap six. Pappa followed through to take second.

Sing a quick crossover move, Pappa grabbed the race lead on lap seven and never looked back, as he scored his fourth straight victory at the speedway. Michael finished in the third spot, followed by Schrantz and Ed Field.

Heat race victories went to Matt Pappa and Scott Hubler.

Kyle Fuatesi took the Bandolero victory over Alex McCollum and David French.
