Newly crowned Wall Stadium Modified stock car driving champion Anthony Sesely proved to all that he is worthy on Saturday as he won the 75-lap main event which was the cornerstone of the first annual “Halloween Spooky Spectacular” auto racing program. It was the sixth win of the year for the Matawan speedster and sets him up as a favorite in the annual season-ending Turkey Derby races set for Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend.

By the luck of the draw Sesely shared the front row with Toms River’s Tim Arre at the outset of the event. Sesely was able to out race Arre into the early lead. Sesely then paced the contest the rest of the way, although Justin Gumley of Colts Neck offered plenty of restart competition late in the contest. Chas Okerson of Freehold, Arre and Lafayette’s Roger Coss completed the top five.

“There were some nights this season when this car was perfection,” Sesely said. “It wasn’t perfect tonight, but it was close. The crew, the sponsors and my family give me a great car for every race.”

In the companion main event for the Sportsman cars that was originally set for 50-laps but was shortened to 25 due to time restraints, Shawna Ingraham of Brick raced to her first ever win and became the first ever female racer to win a Wall Stadium race in an open wheel stock car. Charlie Kremer III of Toms River, Howell’s Kevin Davison, Brick’s Robert Sutphin and Trevor Alspach of Willingboro chased Ingraham across the line.

Joey Helberg of Union topped the 30-lapper for the Factory Stocks after early leader Ronnie Mullen of Brick spun with just a few laps remaining. Vern McLaughlin of Whitehouse Station, Shannon Mongeau of Bradley Beach, Toms River’s Marty Van Druten and Rick Siddons of Beachwood completed the top five.

Elliott Wohl of Freehold crossed the finish line first in the Street Stock 25-lapper, but when his car failed post-race tech newly crowned champ Howie Conk of Jackson was awarded the win. Shannon Mongeau was second in this one, followed by Joe Oliver, Sal Liguori and Jim Downey.

Derek Hopkinson of Toms River celebrated his 2011 Legend Cars driving crown with his eight win of the season on Saturday. Howell’s Robert French, brothers Trevor and Zack Alspach, both of Willingboro and Rob Hyer wrapped up the top five.

Last minute entry Joey Payne raced through the field to win the TQ Midget main event, while Dave Parker won the MicroStock feature race.

The track will present a NEETS Enduro, the “Frankenduro,” on October 30 with the pit area opening at 10:00 a.m., the grandstands opening at noon and the first race beginning at 1:00 p.m. Wall Stadium will then close out the year with the two-day Turkey Derby on Friday and Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. Enduro racing will then return on Sunday of Thanksgiving weekend.
