(LEHIGHTON, PA 10-29-11) For a second time the season finale at Mahoning Valley Speedway has been postponed due to inclement weather. The first attempt at getting the show in was deferred on September 24 due to rain and today’s announcement comes on the heels of a pre-season snow fall that is making a sweep across eastern Pennsylvania.

However, promoters Doug and Gena Hoffman aren’t ones to give in so easy and have slated the new make-up date for Sunday, November 13 at 2:00 p.m. The Hoffman’s are a confident the third time will be the charm.

The day will be highlighted by Hand 5 of the Modified Poker Series, a 100-lap, $3000-to-win feature. Late Models, Street Stocks, Dirt Mods and Pro4 Late Models are also on the card and are non-points races.

Pits gates will open at 10:00 a.m. with practice running from noon - 2:00. Time trials for the Modifieds and heats for the other classes will begin immediately after.

The Modified Poker Series carries a $5000 purse divided three ways among the top three card holders at the conclusion of the specially run five race series. $2500 goes to the winner, $1500 for runner-up and $1000 for third best hand. This year there is a $1000 bonus added for the eligible driver with the worst poker hand.

With no other area tracks in action that day a full pit area of race cars is expected, the Modifieds especially.

Recently crowned Modified champion Tyler Haydt will be looking to add the Poker Series title to his impressive resume but he will have his hands full with the likes of Matt Hirschman and Earl Paules who are in close pursuit. Add in the core group of track regulars and the numerous outsiders expected it should no doubt be a great curtain closer for the popular paved Lehighton quarter mile oval.

Because of today’s postponement and the fact that the following day the 2011 awards celebration is set to take place, the Street Stock crown goes to TJ Gursky. That was the remaining division that was to be decided.

Austin Kochenash, Kris Graver and Barry Christman, Jr., won the Late Model, Dirt Mod and Pro4 Late Model titles respectively.

Mahoning Valley Speedway, run under the direction of the husband and wife team of Doug and Gena Hoffman, is located on PA route 443, two miles west of Lehighton.
