Chemung Speedrome has moved their racing programs to Sunday afternoons for 2012. The 2:15 p.m. starting time has generated positive comments from fans and racers alike. This will add a third race day for the Southern Tier racing fans. This sets up a tri-track circuit for the NASCAR Sunoco Modifieds with Spencer Speedway (Friday), Holland Speedway (Saturday) and Chemung on Sundays at 2:15. The test and tune session for all divisions will be held Sunday, May 27th at 1:00 p.m. Spectators are admitted free of charge for the only practice session before opening night.
The season opener is set for Sunday, June 3rd at 2:15 p.m. The NASCAR Sunoco Modifieds will headline the opener with a 40 lap feature. In addition, the Super Stocks, 4-Cylinders and the INEX Legends will be in competition. Some NASCAR Sunoco Modified teams from Spencer Speedway and Holland Speedway are expected to compete at Chemung.
A single Friday night program remains on the schedule, the Race of Champions Tour (125 laps) event on Friday, August 10th. Start time on this program is 6:15 p.m. The RoC championship tour event for the Modifieds, a National Qualifier for the INEX Legends division, Super Stocks, and the 4 Cylinders are all on the schedule for this action packed night of racing.
The Season Championship Day events are on the schedule for Sunday, August 26th at 2:15 p.m. The NASCAR Sunoco Modifieds will chase victory in twin 25 lap features. The Super Stock championship (25 laps) will be joined by the 4 Cylinders, INEX Legends, and INEX Bandoleros.
New additions to the speedway staff include announcer Steven Petty and race director John Flock. Schedules and information are available on our web site www.ChemungSpeedrome.net. Other racing classes and race dates may be added to the current schedule.
