Last season, they started off by "cracking down" on guys going below the line in 3 & 4, now they completely reverse course and make it even easier to cut the corners. I'm not sure I understand their logic, if anything I would think this would make the racing worse. Although the rumble strips aren't entirely gone, you can still feel them, especially in 1&2, although when Finan announced they had them removed he only said they did it in 3&4 so I guess they only painted over the ones on the other end of the track.

I don't!

What was the purpose of removing them?

my understanding is to open up the racing surface. make it easier to pass on the bottom. now as to where the bottom is??? only the shadow knows

Before, knocking down the idea, let's see where it goes first! Cars might not handle down there, cutting the corner that much, might actually hurt the driver than help him. Could it be bad? Yes, but could it be good? Yes! Time will tell, we've seen some great changes the last two years put forth!

Drivers will "cut" the corners and use up the car to the outside. It"s been going on with the speed bumps and it will only get worse without them.JMHO.

Typo on my part. I meant to say I don't understand it. It makes no sense to me.

Have to agree, hard to understand this one. Someone with too much time thinking of things to change??
Maybe we are not getting it and it will work out ok but now where can you run, how low? And will they see it when you run too low? Agreed, this could get interesting.

I think its a good idea. The person who dives down low wont get the run the outside groove gets on the outside.Kinda like you see at martinsville or bristol where the outside guy still pulls ahead even though theres a car down low. But it will also give a groove to the guys who like to chop down on you when you go down under them. It will be hard to pass down there but at least it gives more options. 81

I think it will be most interesting in the Fig-8s.

Sounds like they opened up walkowiaks' lane for everyone to use.

not trying narrow down to the fig8 divison but i dont think its going to make it better for us because guys will try and cut lower than they have in the past. i no ive done it myself, not trying to say that im perfect

Without seeing it in person it is hard to imagine how this will be a good thing.
My initial thought would be this just makes the "normal" line the "outside" leaving the real outside still untouched.
But who knows?

I'm hoping that whatever the penalty for- 'purposely racing off the racing surface' will warrant
the same penalty each time.
I believe the normal penalty is to be sent to the rear of the field ?
The second offense drops you a lap down?
It will be tough for the officials at times because alot of guys can/will get forced down there...
I think if the rules are laid out right, and the consequences, it'll add excitement to the race.

Went out this past sat for final practice, didnt see many down by rumble strips[its not smooth down there by the way pretty bumpy in turn 3 and 4],some legend cars tried though

I hadn't noticed the dotted white line, well below the strips.
One shouldn't assume, but it seems that if above the white line, you're good ?

So what do you think of the "new" line now?It turned out just like i thought it would and i'm not a fan JMO

I think it's awesome....anything that makes the track wider, also makes it more of a side by side track.

I think it's awesome as well. We had more side by side racing in each division in one night than we saw all of last season combined

I thought it would be a bad thing. I am wrong... It turns out it created good racing.

Saturday night is seemed to be a 'non factor'.
Today, when it got a little crowded in the turn,it is a nice place to
stick the left side tires and get a little room...without upsetting the truck too much.
I like having it smoother,it's more track....the rumble strips sometimes bounced you into trouble.
