Many of the top drivers in asphalt Modified stock car racing are ready to compete in one of the most prestigious events in the sport as Wall Stadium presents the Garden State Classic this Saturday evening (June 30). Current plans call for spectator seating to open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying slated for 6:00 p.m. and main event action set for 7:00 p.m.

This year’s 125-lap format, which will count caution laps through lap 100 before laps 101 through 125 go green, is attracting the attention of several racers. 2011 champion and early season feature race winner Anthony Sesely of Matawan will head wall’s Mod Squad into action. Also expected to see action are 2012 early season main event winners Adam LaCicero of Lavallette, Shanon Mongeau of Farmingdale, Freehold’s Steven Reed and Howell’s Ken Woolley, Jr. Freehold’s Chas Okerson, Shaun Carrig of Little Falls, Christian LaCicero of Lavallette and Harry Schaeffer of Carteret are also expected to be in the field.

In addition to the championship 125-lap Modified race, the Sportsman division cars will compete in a 30-lap main event, while the Factory Stocks and the INEX Legend Cars compete in 25-lap feature races. The Street Stocks have the night off.

Saturday’s schedule will see the competitor pit area open at noon, with a special paid testing session then running from 1:00 until 3:00 p.m. Regular practice will start at 3:30 p.m., while spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m.

Qualifying will then begin at 6:00 p.m. to be followed by feature race action for all four divisions. Childrens’ Big Wheel racing will be presented right before main event action.

The track will then present a NEETS Enduro race on Sunday, July 1, with spectator seating opening at noon and racing starting at 1:00 p.m. The “Firecracker Smacker” will feature Small Car, Big Car and Ladies’ Race action.
