The stock car auto racing program scheduled for Saturday (7/7/12) at Wall Stadium has been cancelled due to the extreme heat expected to hit the Jersey Shore area on Saturday. Current plans call for the Sunday Series Small Car events set for Sunday to be presented as scheduled.

“The heat predicted for Saturday is very serious,” speedway operator Cliff Krause said. “Forecasts call for it to feel like it is 110 degrees when the humidity is factored in. We raced once last year when it was very hot and we did have some medical issues at the track. We don’t want to subject our supporters to that again.

“We’ve thought it over very well. Once we decided, we made the announcement early so that our race teams didn’t have to needlessly load their race cars in trailers in this heat.”

The Saturday season is scheduled to resume next Saturday night, July 14. This date will now mark the debut of the new Four Cylinder division as they join the speedway’s stock cars.

Current plans say that pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. and the regular practice will be up at 3:30 p.m. Grandstand seating will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event will take the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Feature racing will follow.

Wall Stadium Speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. More information can be obtained by visiting www.wallspeedwayracing.com. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400 and email address is CKMotorsports@aol.com.
