Ok, so last night, Ron Silk broke the track record. Or Did he? Looking back to one of my articles written in June of 2000, I have the Pole Time of Chuck Steuer's pole time of 11.506. I reported that there were clock malfunctions, so, I'm not sure if this was effected the record in any way. The Article mentioned above can be found http://www.modseriesscene.com/archives/00/tb0611.html

So, doing more research, I found this Nascar Statistical Advance from 2010 which has Mike Stefanik listed as the Track Record Holder as 11.562

http://www.thechromehorn.com/news/2010/wmt/news072610SA.pdf

Another Race Preview from 2006 has 11.562 as the record, but Chuck Steuer listed as the record Holder.

It seems that time and statistical rewrites have been the reason for this confusion.

On the Racing Reference, one of the best places on the net to find info, they do have Stefaink winning the pole at the 1992 event, but no time is listed.http://racing-reference.info/race/1992_Miller_Genuine_Draft_201/N

The 2000 event results have Chuck Steuer listed as the pole winner, but again, no time is listed.

I've been searching the internet today for other info, but this is the best i have come up with so far. Does anybody remember who held the track record before Chuckie?

Maybe you put a '0' in for the '4' on your write-up???

Richie, I thought if that. Ive been know to make typos, but a 4 and a 0 are not near each other on the keyboard. Thats the reason I wanted to know if anybody knew who had the record before Chuckie. I'll have notes on this race somewhere, but finding them would be a needle in haystack type search. And since the Nascar Guides has multiple times and drivers listed, I tend to trust myself on this one. I know very soon someone will break into the 11.4 barrier and make this a moot point, but it's definately sparked my interest.

With lightning in the area, I got to my truck in 8.34 seconds, definitely a new record for me!

With my flux Capacitor, I tried doing 88 mph on the L.I.E. hoping to go back to the old Islip days.

Does anyone have insight as to why the times in trials are so much lower?

Is Hoosier supplying a different compound?

The removal of the rumble strips in the turns could have something to do with it. Seems as if the times overall in all divisions this year have been better. JMO

not many guys are going down there, as it would upset the cars, as it's still a bit rough. Most drivers still race the the older line.

Ted Frank Vigliarolo Jr held it before Chuck. If I remember correctly Stefanik had an 11.652. Frank went an 11.562, then Chuck went the 11.546. Frank went a .562 in the 1999 season.

Stephen. Now is this absolute track records, or WMT qualifying records. I'll concede i made have typed 11.506 rather than 11.546, even though the 4 and 0 are nowhere near each other on the keyboard. I am quite confused though, since i reported that Chuck had broken the previous record by .0001 seconds. I got that from somewhere. Is it possible that someone had it between Frank and Chuck?

Come up to the pressbox on Saturday. For our own knowledge it's written on the wall very faintly. As you mention that it may be that Frank was a .547 and Chuck went a .546. I seem to remember it being that close. Chuck definatley beat Franks record. Ask Sobe, he loved that his team beat his brother-in-laws team. There is no difference on the record WMT or Riverhead is all the same because it's a "track" record not a series record.

question? knowing that the 6 car has run the spec motor in the past with success makes one wonder if it was in the car a couple weeks ago when he set the track record?
