With Autograph and Camera Night on the docket Saturday evening at Mountain Speedway, Dave Brigati of Calverton, NY held off Nick Pecko to win his second Modified feature event of the season. Chip Wanamaker of Walnutport was flawless in Street Stock action and fought past traffic en route to his fourth win of the year. Cody Roth of Kunkletown ran away with his third Four Cylinder victory and Nick Harnage took his sixth Bandolero win. Steve Renn steered clear of trouble and went on to claim his second straight 4C Super Modified win of the season. Nick Harnage of Calverton, NY went to victory for the sixth time this season in Bandolero action.
Harry Buchman started first in the 40-lap Modified main event and led the opening circuit over Barry Callavini, Brandon Oltra, Dave Brigati and Brian Sones. With Buchman still in command and with four laps in the books, Sones overtook Brigati for fourth. Three laps later he got underneath Oltra to take the third spot.
Callavini hounded the leader and made a bid for the lead on lap nine. With 10 laps complete, Callavini led over Buchman, Sones, Brigati and Nick Pecko.
Brigati retook the third spot from Sones on lap 11 and then the yellow flag waved when Oltra spun in turns one and two. Green flag racing resumed and Brigati went to work. He moved by Buchman for second on lap 11 and then set his sights on Callavini. Brigati overtook the leader on lap 15 and then the yellow made an appearance for Buchman when he spun in turns one and two.
Another quick yellow waved on lap 16 and Callavini was forced to give up the second spot due to a hole in the radiator of his mount. With the green back out and with 22 laps complete Brigati led over Sones, Pecko, Todd Baer and Mike Carroll.
The remainder of the event went without incident and despite pressure from Pecko in the late stages, Brigati went on to take his second Modified victory of the year over Pecko. Baer finished in the third spot and Oltra climbed back for fourth. Sones completed the top five.
Heat race victories went to Harry Buchman and Dave Brigati.
Chris Burge started from the pole position and led the first go-around in the 25 lap Street Stock feature over Alan Schlenker, Kevin Higgins, Brian Wozniak and Bernie Uphold.
Chip Wanamaker started in the tenth spot and began to make an early charge. With only five laps complete, he shot past Tony Hilliard, who ran fifth at the time.
With Burge still in command, Wanamaker got by Wozniak for fourth on lap nine and overtook Higgins for third two laps later. A pass on Schlenker moved him to second on lap 12. On a career-best drive, Higgins moved by Schlenker and into third on lap 14.
With 15 laps complete, Burge still held the top spot with Wanamaker, Higgins, Schlenker and Wozniak in tow. Meanwhile, Hilliard sat sixth and battled hard to get back into the top five.
With only four laps remaining, Wanamaker completed the pass for the lead on Burge. Without pressure from behind, he went on to claim his fourth victory of the season. Higgins was the runner-up, followed by Burge and Schlenker. Hilliard got by Wozniak in the closing laps to take fifth.
Heat race victories went to Bernie Uphold and Chris Burge.
After starting on the pole, John Smith led the opening circuit of the 20-lap Four Cylinder feature over Noah Fassman, Cody Roth, Chris Meeker and Jay Skupski.
With three laps in the books and with Smith still in command, a debris caution flew. Fassman had a great restart and scooted into the lead. Roth followed through for second and Meeker climbed to third following the restart but lost the position to Skupski on lap 5.
Roth caught Fassman and the pair battled side by side before Roth took control of the event on lap 8. The remainder of the show went caution-free and Roth cruised to his third feature win of the season. Fassman tied his career best finish of second, followed by Skupski. Frank Hughes had transmission issues all day long and salvaged a fourth place effort, followed by Smith.
Heat race victories went to Cody Roth and Jay Skupski.
The 4C Super Modifieds took the stage for their 20-lap feature and Ron Merlino led the opening lap over Anthony Merlino, Ron Merlino, Jr and Wes Gilbert.
With two laps complete, R. Merlino took the race lead but it was short-lived, as R. Merlino, Jr. took command following a lap five restart.
R, Merlino regained the top spot on lap 10 but had to give up the position to pit under yellow, which moved Steve Renn to the point.
Renn stayed smooth and went on to take the checkers for his second straight Mountain victory over Gilbert, R. Merlino, Jr, Bob Renn and A. Merlino.
Mike Renn scored the heat race victory.
