Points Leader Tim Brown of Rural Hall narrowly avoided disaster on Saturday at Bowman Gray Stadium. In
the meantime, his primary points rival, Jason Myers of Walnut Cove, wasn’t so lucky.

Brown qualified on the pole for the first 25-lap race for the Brad’s Golf Cars Modified Series. He battled with Burt Myers of Walnut Cove
to grab the lead during the opening lap, and the number 83 of Brown sailed ahead for most of the race.

But as he and Myers caught up to lapped traffic on the final lap, the cluttered track gave Myers the opportunity to deliver a stiff shot
to Brown’s bumper. Myers slipped to the inside, while Brown tried to avoid spinning and nailing the guard rail.

Coming out of turn four, the two continued their battle – crashing into each other and sliding across the finish line in one of the
closest finishes ever in Stadium history.

Although many accuse Brown of overly-cautious racing, Brown was quick to point out that his actions on Saturday show his fearlessness.
“There wasn’t any way I was going off the gas,” said Brown. “We’ll wreck if that’s what they want to do, but I was going for the win.”

But the end of the season draws closer and closer, and Brown is focusing on winning the title. “Four more races - and hopefully I can
keep this point lead,” said Brown, who added that he’s not taking lightly the fierce competition from Burt Myers, Jason Myers, Robert Jeffreys,
Lee Jeffreys, and Jonathan Brown.

“We’re going to try and win this championship,” said Brown. “We’ve just got to keep coming over here, sitting on the pole, and winning races.”
When the “Madhouse Scramble” inverted part of the field for the second race, it seemed like Jason Myers would be able to tread water with Brown,
maintaining their points gap – or even gaining a point or two.

But Jason Myers spun during the second race after a bump to the rear from Dean Ward of Winston-Salem. “It looked like the 25 car broke and was
waving everybody around. I slowed down to keep from running over the 25 - and the guy behind me didn’t slow up,” said Myers. “That’s two weeks in
a row I slowed up when I was supposed to, and I got run over from behind.”

Instead of staying even with Brown, Myers loses nine points in the race for the championship. Jonathan Brown of Winston-Salem moves up to third
in the points after Lee Jeffreys of Wallburg slips down to fourth in the rankings.

In the Webb Heating & A/C Co. Sportsman Series, points contender Jeff Garrison of Arcadia finishes an impressive sixth and second. Unfortunately
for him, points leader Derek Stoltz of Walkertown also finished well – keeping their points gap the same.

David Sumner of Trinity claimed the checkered on Saturday in the Q104.1 New Country Street Stock Series, allowing him to gain a few points on
points leader Billy Gregg of Lexington.

In the Summer Shootout Stadium Stock Series, challenger A.J. Sanders of Mocksville finished ninth on Saturday, slipping a little in the points
and allowing Charlie Curry of Welcome to extend his points lead.

The rivalries continue this Saturday night – and you can see the action for the absolute best price in town. It’s $1 Ladies’ Night, where
all women are admitted for only a buck to see Modified Twin 50s and racing for the Sportsman, Street Stock, and Stadium Stock Divisions.

Gates open at 6:00 for practice, and the first race begins at 8:00 PM – this Saturday night. Ticket prices, directions, and more
