With $1,500 on the line for the 75-lap Sport Modified main event Saturday night at Mountain Speedway, Anthony Sesely of Matawan, NJ barely held off Dave Brigati to claim the checkers. Kyle Harvell of New York, NY made a three-wide pass in the closing laps of the Late Model feature to score his fourth win of the season and Rich Paciotti of Kunkletown had the car to beat in Factory Stock action, as he drove away with his second feature win of the season. Ryan Tidman of Levittown took the checkers in the TQ Midget feature and Nick Harnage of Calverton, NY scored his tenth Bandolero victory.

Dave Brigati timed quickest in Sport Modified time trials and the top four fastest drivers redrew for their starting position for the start of the 75-lap main event. Nick Pecko pulled the pole and led the opening lap over Anthony Sesely, Dave Brigati, Jason Hearne and Tommy Wanick III.

From the onset, Sesely stayed in the high groove and overtook the leader with one lap on the scoreboard. With ten laps complete he still held the point over Pecko and Brigati.

Brigati worked on Pecko for second and made the outside pass stick on lap 31. With a faster car than the leader, Brigati ran down Sesely and patiently wait for a caution flag or driver error by the leader, whichever would come first.

The yellow flag that Brigati hoped for flew when Cam Ayers spun on the backstretch. Drivers lined up double file for the lap 49 restart and Brigati had the chance that he had hoped for, but Sesely held his own and wouldn’t be overtaken easily. With 25 laps remaining, Sesely continued to lead over Brigati, Hearne, Wanick and Pecko.

Following a lap 66 yellow involving Pat Verwys, Brigati hounded Sesely and the pair ran side by side for a number of laps. By a bumper, Brigati led lap 74, but he was forced to surrender the lead when his car began to starve for fuel down the backstretch. Sesely went on to take the victory over Brigati, Hearne, Wanick and Pecko.

“The fastest car didn’t win the race today”, said Sesely, after exiting his car in victory lane. “Dave (Brigati) ran me clean and definitely gave me a run for our money tonight.”

Stone Phillips started from the pole and led the opening circuit of the 30-lap Late Model feature over Brad Brown, Kyle Harvell and Chris Laspisa. With three laps in the books, Harvell moved by Brown for second and set his sights on Phillips.

With Phillips still in command, the first yellow flag flew when Brown spun on the backstretch with 21 laps complete. Green flag racing resumed and after restarting fourth, Brown nearly drove to the lead, but settled for second behind Phillips.

With seven laps remaining, and while Brown battled Phillips, Harvell saw an opening on the bottom of turn three and made a three-wide pass stick. He took command of the event and drove off to his fourth victory of the season.

Phillips settled for second, followed by Brown and Laspisa.

Dan Pawlicki led the Factory Stock field to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature, but Rich Paciotti led the first circuit over Pawlicki, Keith Frankenfield, Mark Martini and Stephanie Moyer.

With one lap in the books, Frankenfield climbed to second and attempted to reel in the leader.

Kendall Foulk cracked the top five but had to restart deeper in the field following a lap 11 caution with Matt Mattern, Jr.

Paciotti was flawless following the restart and was untouched over the closing laps. He drove away with his second victory of the season over Frankenfield and Pawlicki. Foulk rebounded for a strong fourth place effort and Moyer notched her first top five finish of the season.

Heat race victories went to Rich Paciotti and Dan Pawlicki.

After winning the heat race earlier in the afternoon, Matt Roselli started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the 25-lap TQ Midget feature over Ryan Tidman, Frank Fischer, Buddy Sload and Robin Johnston.

With four laps complete, Johnston overtook Sload for third and Tidman began to work on the leader for the top spot.

With nearly 10 laps complete, Tidman nearly took the lead in turn three, but lost momentum and Roselli remained in control. However, Tidman gained the advantage on lap 11 when Roselli slid up a little higher then he would have liked on the exit of turn two.

Untouchable over the remainder of the event, Tidman went on to claim the victory. Roselli settled for second, followed by Fischer, Johnston and Sload.
