Despite having heavy pressure from Dave Brigati in the closing laps of the Sport Modified feature event, Jason Hearne of New Egypt, NJ held on and took the checkers Saturday evening to notch his third victory of the season at Mountain Speedway. In an effort to become the winningest Late Model driver at the track, Larry Fisher of Fern Glen scored his first Late Model win of the season and Mark Martini of Effort scored his third Factory Stock win of the year. Nick Harnage of Calverton, NY went on to claim his twelfth victory in Bandolero action.

Paul Frantz led the Sport Modified field to the drop of the green flag in the 40-lap main event but quickly lost the lead to Jason Hearne. With one lap in the books, Dave Brigati held second, followed by Frantz, Kevin Orlando and Nick Pecko.

Hearne and Brigati began to put some distance on the field and then Pecko overtook Frantz for third on lap three. Orlando followed through for the fourth spot and he and Pecko battled hard for third.

Three quick yellows slowed the event and following a restart with 15 laps remaining and with Hearne still in command, Brigati stuck to the outside of the track. Hearne held a good line and retained the spot, but Brigati continued to have good runs into turn three, which helped him lead lap 29.

Hearne fought back and regained the top spot on lap 30, but Brigati didn’t give up. On the final turn on the final lap, Brigati gave Hearne a shot, which got him out of shape. Brigati allowed the leader to regain control and Hearne pulled off the victory, which was his third of the season. Pecko settled for third, followed by Orlando and Frantz.

Heat race victories went to Dave Brigati and Jason Hearne.

Mitch Hawk started from the pole and led the first circuit of the 30-lap Late Model feature over Larry Fisher, Brad Brown, Jeff McGrath and Frank Hughes.

It didn’t take long for Fisher to make a bid for the lead, and he completed the pass on Hawk on the second lap. From that point forward, Fisher stayed smooth and lapped all but one car en route to his first win of the season. Gunning to pass Richie Jensen as the all time Late Model winner at the track, Fisher needs only two more victories to reach his goal.

Hawk finished as the runner up, followed by Brown, McGrath and Hughes. Stone Phillips tangled with Kyle Harvell in heat race action and both drivers were unable to start the feature.

Trevor Ahouse started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the 20-lap Factory Stock feature over Dan Pawlicki, Mark Martini and Rich Paciotti. Pawlicki battled on the outside of Ahouse for the race lead in the early going, but was overtaken by Martini for second on lap two.

Pawlicki got back by Martini on lap five, but Martini fought back on the following circuit and not only overtook Pawlicki for second, but he also got by Ahouse for the lead.

Just past the halfway mark, Martini continued to lead over Paciotti, Ahouse, Pawlicki and Matt Mattern, Jr.

Paciotti’s car began to go away in the second half of the race and Ahouse retook the second spot on lap 13. Not having anything for the leader in the final laps, Ahouse settled for a career-best second place effort while Martini took his third feature win of the season. Pawlicki, Paciotti and Stephanie Moyer completed the top five.

Heat race victories went to Dan Pawlicki and Trevor Ahouse.
