Wall Stadium Speedway will take time to honor the memory of one of its most successful and popular drivers as it celebrates the “John Blewett III Memorial” this Saturday evening. Spectator seating will open at 5:00 p.m. with qualifying set for 6:00 p.m. and feature race action scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Blewett III, who was very successful in Modified stock car racing where ever he competed, lost his life in a facing accident in Thompson, Connecticut five years ago. Many members of the Blewett family plan on being at the track on Saturday evening, including standout driver Jimmy Blewett who plans on driving in the Modified race that honors his brother, according to speedway officials.

The Modified stock cars will be in the spotlight competing in a 76-lap main event. Current point leader and defending champion Anthony Sesely of Matawan is expected to be in the field, as are other 2011 main event winners including Chas Okerson of Freehold, Adam LaCicero of Lavallette, Shanon Mongeau of Farmingdale, Ken Woolley, Jr. of Howell and Freehold’s Steven Reed, just to name a few.

In addition, the Sportsman racers, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks and the 4 Cylinder racers are all slated to compete in main events.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track’s email address. More information is also available at www.wallspeedwayracing.com.
