With $2,300 guaranteed to the winner of the 4th annual Brad Kline Memorial Street Stock Shootout Sunday at Mountain Speedway, the action was expected to be intense. In a caution plagued 75-lap run for the cash, Chris Burge of Mountaintop, Dominated the majority of the show and scored not on the biggest win of his career, but also his first victory since 1997. Brendon Bock of Long Island, NY took the lead on the opening circuit of the INEX Legends feature and held off several challengers to score his second win of the season at the speedway and Kyle Fratesi notched his second INEX Bandolero victory of the weekend.

Following heat race qualifying, the top 12 drivers redrew for their starting positions in the 4th annual Brad Kline Street Stock Memorial, which was sponsored by the Crossroad’s Inn and C&D Landscaping. Sponsored laps were also sold, which added even more cash to the $2,300 prize.

Plenty of Kline’s family members and fans came out for the show and many recalled the glory days of the multi-time track champion’s young career.

Brian Wozniak drew the pole and lost the lead to Elliot Wohl on the opening circuit. Chris Burge held third, followed by Steve Shultz and TJ Gursky.

Shultz took his turn at the lead on lap seven, when he overtook Wohl, who began to slip back in the field. Wohl lost the second spot to Burge on lap eight and the Burge hounded Shultz before taking command on lap 14.

Although it took a while to reach that point with the number of yellow flags early on, Burge continued to lead at the lap 53 break over Shultz, Gursky, Wozniak and Justin Mooney.

In a 23-lap dash to the finish, Burge began to distance himself from the competition. Meanwhile, Howie Conk, Jr. cracked the top five and he and Gursky battled hard for the fourth spot.

Untouchable in the closing laps, Burge went on to take his first victory in 15 years. Shultz settled for second, followed by Wozniak, Conk and Gursky.

Heat race wins went to Alan Schlenker, Howie Conk, Jr. and TJ Gursky.

Cole Fratesi started from the pole position in the 20-lap INEX Legends feature but Brendon Bock led the first lap. Kevin Nowak held second, with Brad Lowmaster, Frank Scimeca and Fratesi in tow.

Raven Schrantz brought out the first yellow flag with a solo spin on lap four and was forced to restart from the tail end of the field. Nowak gave the leader a run for his money when green flag racing resumed, but Bock held strong.

Nowak encountered problems with five laps to go and despite a hard charge to the front by Jason Knox, Bock saw the checkers first and notched his second win at the speedway this season. Knox ended up in second, followed by Scimeca and Lowmaster. Schrantz rallied back to finish in fifth.

Heat race victories went to Kevin Nowak and Brad Lowmaster.
