Steven Reed of Freehold and Howell’s Jimmy Blewett shared the spotlight at Wall Stadium Saturday night by each taking a victory in “Twin 35” lap main events for Modified stock cars. It was the second win of the season for each driver.

In the first Modified main event Shaun Carrig of Little Falls jumped to the lead at the outset while fast time trailer Reed headed to the front. Early on Reed dove to the inside lane to take the top spot while Blewett and Matawan’s Anthony Sesely headed for second and third.

Before ten laps were in the books it was Reed, Blewett and Sesely running in the top three. This trio then battled the remaining laps to complete the top three, while Chas Okerson of Freehold and Carrig completed the top five.

In the Second Modified main Carrig again rocketed to the lead in the outside lane at the initial green flag and held his ground until Sesely took over with five laps down. Blewett and Howell’s Ken Woolley, Jr. were flying in this race as they took over second and third spots with 12 laps in the books.

With 16 laps complete Blewett dove to the inside lane to steal away the lead, but Woolley was glued to his bumper. From that point on Blewett held off Woolley for the win, while Reed, Sesely, and Okerson rounded out the top five finishers.

In the companion 30-lapper for the Sportsman cars, Eric Mauriello of Howell came from 12th on the grid to take the lead from pacesetter Elliott Wohl of Freehold with just five laps remaining. Andrew Krause of Holmdel was second, while Charlie Kremer III of Toms River was third. Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach and Wohl wrapped up the top five.

Point leader Scott Riggleman of Manchester overcame a failing seal in his car’s rear axle to win the 25-lap main event for the Factory Stocks. Jim Downey of Cliffwood Beach was second, while Andrew Krause, Howell’s Steve West and Rob Longo of Wall were third through fifth.

Nick Shaw of Chatham regained the point lead by winning his seventh Street Stock main event of the year. Marc Rogers was impressive as he raced to second at the finish, followed by Jerry Stanzione of Keansburg, Jackson’s Howie Conk and Dominic Casola of Colts Neck.

Brian Crosby became a first time racing winner when he topped the 30-lapper for the 4 Cylinder cars. Mike Bilello of Brick raced from the rear in the closing laps to finish second, while Mike Wahl, Mike Dunn and Jay Conrad completed the top five.

In a special Ladies Race, Alyssa Prince was the victor over a five-car field.

Wall Stadium’s stock car racing season continues this Saturday night (September 8) with “Back To School Night” when kids will be admitted at half p-rice. The evening will feature the Legend Cars in a special 40-lap main event, while the Modified stock cars, Street Stocks and Factory Stocks will also see action.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m.; with practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
