Berwick’s Brian DeFebo finally got the money off his back and in dominating fashion, notched his first Modified main event of the season Sunday at Mountain Speedway. Chris Burge of Mountaintop continued in his winning ways and took his second straight Street Stock feature victory and Pete Verwys of Stroudsburg scored his first Four Cylinder feature win of the year. Matt Papa of Nassau, NY kept his INEX Legends winning streak at the speedway alive by remaining undefeated in the division and Nick Harnage of Calverton, NY scored his fourteenth INEX Bandolero victory.

Ken Vogel, Jr. started from the pole position and led the opening circuit of the 40-lap Modified main event over Brian DeFebo, Brandon Oltra, Nick Pecko and Todd Baer. However, the first yellow flag of the show flew when Rob Ormsbee spun in turns three and four. Andy Szapacs and John Beatty were also collected.

Green flag racing resumed and DeFebo grabbed the race lead before a lap three yellow was displayed when Baer and Oltra tangled in turn four. The exchange moved Dave Brigati to third, followed by Pecko and Brian Sones.

With DeFebo still leading over Vogel, several cars spun in turn one on lap 10. Ormsbee, Szapacs, Sones and Jim Bojohnny were collected in the incident.

With the green flag back in the air, DeFebo began to distance himself from Vogel, who opened up a sizable gap over Brigati. Untouchable over the closing laps, DeFebo scored his first victory of the season, followed by Vogel, Brigati, Baer and Oltra.

Heat race victories went to Brandon Oltra and Brian DeFebo.

Chris Burge started from the pole and led the first go around in the 25-lap Street Stock feature. Alan Schlenker ran second, with Tony Hilliard, Chas Castiglione and Robert Fink in tow.

With Burge still in command, the first yellow flew on lap eight when Fink and Castiglione tangled in turn three. Both drivers were forced to restart from the rear of the field.

Burge continued to set the pace and following the restart, Kevin Higgins worked past Schlenker for second. Brian Wozniak cracked the top five and them got by Schlenker for third.

With a sizable advantage when the checkers flew, Burge claimed his second straight victory of the season. Higgins settled for second, followed by Wozniak. Fink battled back to finish fourth and Schlenker completed the top five.

Heat race victories went to Tony Hilliard and Chris Burge.

From the pole position, Jay Skupski led the Four Cylinder field to the drop of the green in the 20-lap feature. He led the opening lap over Pete Verwys, John Smith, Noah Fassman and Frank Hughes.

Verwys hounded the leader, but Skupski held his own to retain the race lead. However, that all changed when Skupski got out of shape in turn two on the eighth lap and Verwys snagged the lead.

Larry Spencer III cracked the top five when he got by Hughes on lap nine. He then grabbed fourth from Fassman on lap 15 and then overtook Smith and Skupski to moved into second with three laps remaining. Spencer then reeled in Verwys and gave him a shot in turn four as the checkers flew.

Verwys held on to take the win, which put him atop of the all time winner in the division. Crossing the stripe behind Verwys and his fifteenth career victory were Spencer, Fassman, Smith and Hughes.

Pete Verwys and Jay Skupski were heat race winners.

Van Michael started from the pole position in the 20-lap INEX Legends feature, but Brandon Michael led the opening lap over Brad Lowmaster and Brendon Bock.

Lowmaster overtook the leader on lap four but spun out two laps later, which handed the lead to Bock. Meanwhile, Matt Papa began to charge and moved to third on lap six. He then got past second place Todd McCollum on the same lap and then rode behind Bock.

Papa saw his opportunity to steal the lead on lap 11 and he took control of the show. Papa went on to take the win and is still undefeated in both heat and feature races at the speedway. Bock settled for second, followed by McCollum, B. Michael and fourteenth place starter, Scott Hubler.
