After celebrating the Labor Day holiday weekend with exciting stock car racing last Saturday, Wall Stadium Speedway returns to action this Saturday (Sept. 8) with a special 40-lap championship race for the Legend Cars. The night’s stock car racing program will also feature a Modified 40-lapper, 25-lap main events for the Street Stocks and the Factory Stocks and a Mechanic’s Race. Grandstand seating is set to open at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and main events at 7:00 p.m.

Wall Stadium’s Modified division features a long list of talented drivers including current point leader and defending champion Anthony Sesely of Matawan, multi-time champion Chas Okerson of Freehold and recent winners Adam LaCicero of Lavallette, Ken Woolley, Jr. of Howell and Steven Reed of Freehold. After two Saturdays of extra-distance events, the Modifieds are returning for a 40-lap main event this weekend.

The INEX Legend Cars also feature some of the most talented drivers in the country. 2011 champion and current point leader Derek Hopkinson of Toms River will be a driver to watch, as will brothers Trevor and Zach Alspach, both of Willingboro. Robert French of Howell, Malcolm Campbell of Eatontown and Mike Alcaro of Newton are also among those expected to compete. The Legend Cars 40-lapper is 15 laps longer than their regular main event distance.

In addition, the Street Stocks and the Factory Stocks are slated for 25-lap main events and a special Mechanic’s Race will also be presented.

With many of the area’s youngsters returning to class this week, the speedway has tagged Saturday night’s events as “Back to School Night.” The special evening will offer youngsters school supplies while they last and a half price admission ticket.

Pit gates are set to open at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday; with practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.

Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B. The speedway hotline number is 732-681-6400, while CKMotorsports@aol.com is the track’s email address. More information is also available at www.wallspeedwayracing.com.
