Despite a strong effort by Dave Brigati in the second half of the Sport Modified feature Sunday afternoon at Mountain Speedway, Jason Hearne of New Egypt, NJ stayed quick and strong to notch his fourth victory of the season. In history-making style, Larry Fisher of Fern Glen not only took his third Late Model victory of the season, but also scored his 27th career win in the division, which moved him past Richie Jensen on the all-time win list in the class. Mark Martini of Effort notched his fifth Factory Stock victory and for the seventh time this season, Matt Pappa of Nassau, NY, drove away with the INEX Legends victory. In an impressive INEX Bandolero season, Nick Harnage of Calverton, NY drove to his fifteenth win of the year.

Hearne turned the quickest lap in Sport Modified time trials and then redrew the pole position for the 40-lap main event. With the green flag out, Hearne led the opening lap, followed by Dave Brigati, Nick Pecko, Tommy Wanick III and Dom Fattaruso.

A handful of quick yellow flags slowed the event in the early going and Hearne had no problems retaining the lead on each and every restart. He continued to lead at halfway over Brigati, Pecko, Wanick and Paul Frantz, but Frantz was forced to pit on lap 21 after he was spun in turns one and two.

With the green back out, Hearne continued to set the pace until another yellow waved on lap 23. The restart went by the wayside when Brigati and Pecko got hooked together on the front stretch. Both drivers headed to the pits and returned to the speedway.

With Hearne in command, Brigati made a gallant effort with a charge toward the front. He overtook Scott Brannick for third on lap 32 and then shot past Wanick for second. He caught the leader on the following lap and looked to the outside in turns three and four, but Hearne held his line to edge Brigati to the stripe. Wanick finished in the third spot, followed by Brannick and Pecko.

Larry Fisher turned the quickest lap in time trials and then redrew the pole for the start of the 30-lap Late Model feature. With ease, Fisher led the first circuit with Mike Sweeney, Kyle Harvell, Frank Hughes and Mark Simon in tow.

Harvell took second from Sweeney as the pair worked lapped traffic on lap 19 and at that point only Fisher, Harvell and Sweeney remained on the lead lap. However, problems struck the second and third place runners on the same lap when Hughes tangled with them in turns three and four.

With Fisher still out front, Sweeney made a great challenge to take his Ford by the race leader in the closing laps, but Fisher stayed focused. He took the checkers for his 27th career Late Model victory, which moved him to the top of the all-time win list in the division. Sweeney settled for second, followed by Harvell, Simon and Mark Tyson.

Matt Mattern, Jr. turned the quickest lap in Factory Stock time trials, but Dan Pawlicki redrew the pole and led the field to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature. He led the first lap over Rich Paciotti, Trevor Ahouse, Mattern and Kendall Foulk.

Ahouse overtook Paciotti for second on the third lap and reeled in the leader. He attempted to make a pass for the lead on Pawlicki on the sixth lap, but contact forced Pawlicki to spin, which gave the lead to Paciotti.

Following a lap nine restart, Mark Marini found himself in second alongside Paciotti. With the green flag back out, Martini took the reigns of the show and Paciotti dropped to second.

Well on his way to his fifth win of the season, Martini the stripe, followed by Paciotti. Several cars battling behind then tangled in turns three and four, including Mattern and Ahouse. With such a dramatic finish, Foulk crossed the strip in third, followed by Stephanie Moyer and Pawlicki.

Van Michael started from the pole position in the 20-lap INEX Legends feature. He led the opening lap over Mark Mahrstedt, Jr, Brad Lowmaster, Dylan Hoffman and Mitch Dowd.

With two laps complete, Mahrstedt took the top spot. He continued to lead at the one-quarter mark in the event and by that point Lowmaster had climbed to second, with V. Michael and Raven Schrantz in tow.

Scott Hubler climbed to fifth but lost the spot to Matt Pappa on lap six. Pappa then passed Schrantz for fourth and then overtook Brandon Michael and Lowmaster. His dominance didn’t end there and he took the race lead with nine laps complete.

Untouchable over the remainder of the show, Pappa cruised away with his seventh feature wins in as many starts this season the speedway. Hubler was forced to settle for second, followed by B. Michael, Todd McCollum and Lowmaster.

Heat race victories went to Matt Pappa, Mark Mahrstedt, Jr. and Brendon Bock.
