The final Friday night program of weekly racing settled the 2012 NASCAR Whelen All-American Series track championships at Lee USA Speedway, with 2010 titleist Tommy Tombarello, Jr. returning to championship form and taking the crown in the Benson Lumber and Hardware Small Block Supermodifieds.

Multi-time champ J.R Baril collected top honors in the highly-competitive Late Model Sportsman, Jim Shorey added another championship trophy to his collection in the “Unpredictable” Hobby Stocks, and Jake Rheaume closed out the 2012 season with the Ironman championship honors.

Defending champ Wayne Helliwell, Jr. bested the field to pick up the final Small Block Supermodified feature event win of the 2012 campaign, but Tombarello had scored more than enough points during the season for his runner-up finish in the finale to result in his second career championship title.

Mike Netishen closed out his season with a strong third place run just a few car lengths behind the lead duo, followed by Mike Ordway, Jr., rookie Ryan Gath, P.J. Stergios, Leslie Keyser, Sparky MacIver, Jason Phillips, Ricky Wolf, Mike Murphy, Mike Spurling, Moe Lattime, Tony Carroll, and Johnny Burke.

Tony Kawejsza drove the James St. Jean Auctioneers machine to his second main event win of the year in the Prime Storage Late Model Sportsmen, but as a result of his dominating 2012 season aboard the Brian House entry, it was J.R. Baril celebrating another championship title during post-race ceremonies.

Alby Ovitt continued his late-season hot streak with a runner-up finish to Kawejsza in the season finale, with Michele Fushpanski taking third in the L & W Auto machine. Fourth went to Timmy Johnson, with Patrick Stewart, Kyle Roy, John Falconi, Brian Grantz, P.J. Murphy, and Ray Dinsmore closing out the top ten.

Jim Shorey put an exclamation point on his 2012 David’s Race Cars and Components Hobby Stock championship season with another trip to victory lane in the last regular-season feature event, with Jim Piaseczny taking down second place honors after chasing the champ all the way.

Kenny “Caveman” Scott rounded out the post-race podium after a strong third place run, with Ron Washburn, Patrick Tanguay, Chris Jacobson, Paul Palen, Brian Thompson, Niko Maniatis, and Kyle Sawyer finishing fourth through tenth.

Danielle Simoneau made a strong late-race charge to take down the American Auto Parts Ironman feature event win, taking over the lead from eventual second place finisher Jake Rheaume, who closed out his 2012 with the Ironman championship title, the first of his Lee USA Speedway career.

Mike Mason put in a dominating performance to outrun Emerson Cayer for the NEMST 50-lap feature event score, while George Helliwell continued his impressive win streak in the Northeast Classic Lites feature event, picking up his eighth consecutive victory over Rob Bryant and Billy Osborne.
