Ronnie Mullen of Brick and Holmdel’s Andrew Krause shared the spotlight at Wall Stadium Saturday night by each taking a victory in Twin 25 lap main events for the Factory Stock cars. Derek Hopkinson of Toms River also stood in the spotlight with a victory in the 40-lap Legend Cars race, while Willingboro’s Trevor Alspach topped the 30-lap Sportsman main event.

Mullen raced from ninth in the first Factory Stock 25 lapper and took the lead near the halfway point. Point leader Scott Riggleman of Manchester soon moved to the second spot and chased Mullen to the checker flag. Steve West of Howell, Steve Michel of Egg Harbor Township and Union’s Joey Helberg wrapped up the top five.

Krause came from tenth in the second 25-lap Factory Stock race to take the lead from Eric Graham of Jackson on lap four. Krause then fought off a determined Mullen while weaving through almost constant lapped traffic to gain the win. Helberg, Riggleman and Wall’s Tim O’Shea completed the top five in this one.

In the 40-lapper for the Legend Cars Hopkinson chased Newton’s Mike Alcaro most of the way until a lapped car dropped oil on the track in the first turn with six laps remaining. Alcaro slid into the guardrail while Hopkinson was able to maintain control to take the win. Trevor Alspach, Howell’s Robert French, Malcolm Campbell of Eatontown and Joe McGrath wee second through fifth.

While Trevor Alspach built up a big lead in the 30-lap Sportsman feature, the battle for runner-up honors kept the attention of the fans until a caution finally waved on the final lap. After a couple of attempts to restart the race, Alspach raced on to the win while Eric Mauriello of Howell won the battle for second. Joe Nappi of Howell, Toms River’s Jonathan Mandato and Zack Alspach of Willingboro rounded out the top five finishers.

Buddy Sloed of West Chester, Pa. rocketed to the lead early and raced on to win the 25-lapper for the visiting TQ Midgets. Ryan Tidman of Levittown, Pa. was second, while Frank Fischer of Flemington was third, Ian Cumens of Lyndell, Pa. was fourth and Joey Payne was fifth.

Wall’s Brian Crosby won his second straight 25 lap main event for the 4 Cylinder cars with a daring inside lane move for the win in the third turn of the final lap. Early leader Mike Wohl was forced to settle for second, while Tommy Chillson, Jay Conrad and Scott Dunn were third through fifth.

Nick Shaw of Chatham stretched his point lead by winning the 15-lapper for the Street Stocks. Marc Rogers, Mike Tillett, Jerry Stanzione and Jack Sayegh wrapped up the top five.

Dave Parker was the big winner in the main event for the Sunday Series Microstocks.

Wall Stadium’s stock car racing season continues this Saturday night (September 22) with “Team Sports Night” when kids wearing uniform shirts from their local leagues will be admitted free of charge. The evening will feature the Modified stock cars in a 40-lap main event, while the Sportsman cars, Legend Cars, Factory Stocks and the 4 Cylinder cars will also see action.

Pit gates will open at 2:00 p.m.; with practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
