The Modified stock cars will return to the high banked oval at Wall Stadium this Saturday night (Sept. 22) for a 40-lap main event that could go a long way towards settling the 2012 driving championship race. “Team Sports Night” activities, where youngsters wearing their local team sports jerseys will be admitted free of charge, will see grandstand seating opening at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and main events at 7:00 p.m.

Defending Modified driving champion Anthony Sesely of Matawan is trying to make it two straight titles, but he has plenty of competition from multi-time champion Chas Okerson, along with Steven Reed, both of Freehold. Shaun Carrig of Little Falls and Adam LaCicero of Lavallette are also candidates for feature wins and the driving crown.

In addition, the Sportsman racers, Factory Stocks, Legend Cars and the Four Cylinder cars are also on the card.

Saturday night’s action sets the stage for the regular season finale set for Saturday night, September 29. On that night, Hamer Heating and Cooling will sponsor the “Battle on the High Banks.” The September 29 event will see the Modifieds, Sportsman cars, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, 4 Cylinder cars and the Legend Cars all race for double points. Race night purses will also be extra rewarding thanks to sponsor Hamer Heating and Cooling.

This Saturday (Sept. 22), pit gates are set to open at 2:00 p.m.; with practice starting at 3:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
