With the autumn season in full effect and with only a couple of weeks of racing left to complete the season at Mountain Speedway, several drivers were on top of their game on Sunday. Jason Hearne of New Egypt, BJ held off Dave Brigati to claim his fifth Sport Modified win of the season and Travis Fisher of Fern Glen drove off with a commanding victory in the Late Model feature. Matt Matter, Jr. of Drums notched his first career Factory Stock win and Brendon Bock of Franklin Square, NY notched his third INEX Legends victory of the season. Nick Harnage of Calverton, NY continued in his winning ways by securing his 17th Bandolero victory and both Karl Mondschein of Landsdale and Bill force, Jr. of Hammonton, NJ scored wins in the ATQMRA Vintage divisions.

Tommy Wanick started from the pole position in the 40-lap Sport Modified feature, but a slow started bunched up the field and with damage, Wanick headed to the pits and did not return. The Change of events gave the lead to Cam Ayers, who was overtaken by Dave Brigati once the green flag dropped.

Brigati led the opening circuit with Ayers, Kevin Orlando, Mike Odwazny and Paul Frantz in tow and then Orlando climbed to second and Frantz followed through for third.

Jason Hearne cracked the top five and them overtook Frantz for third on lap three. He then snuck by Todd Baer for the fourth spot on lap six and then moved to third. Hearne climbed to second after overtaking Orlando on lap eight and attempted to reel in Brigati.

Hearne did in fact chase down the leader and rode his rear bumper before taking the race lead on lap 17. Brigati however didn’t give up easily. The pair ran nose-to-tail during the second half of the event and with 10 laps remaining Brigati retook the top spot.

Hearne fought back and regained the position on the next circuit and then kept himself in check to cross the stripe first, earning his fifth feature win of the season. Brigati settled for second, followed by Baer, Frantz and Orlando.

Jason Hearne and Dave Brigati were also heat race winners.

Mike Sweeney started from the pole position in the 30-lap Late Model feature and was overtaken by Travis Fisher following the drop of the green flag. Sweeney tucked into second, followed by Kyle Harvell, but the caution waved with one lap complete when Harvell got into Sweeney off of turn two. The pair was forced to the rear of the field for the restart.

Fisher continued out front with Rob Ormsbee and Geno Steigerwalt in pursuit. Meanwhile, Sweeney and Harvell began to climb back towards the front, and with four laps complete, Sweeney had climbed to third. Sweeney attempted to take second from Ormsbee on lap five, but that went by the wayside when he spun in turn four.

With Five laps complete, Fisher continued to lead over Steigerwalt and Harvell.

Fisher was unstoppable over the closing laps and went on to score his second feature win of the season over Ormsbee, Harvell, Sweeney and Steigerwalt.

Heat race victories went to Travis Fisher and Mike Sweeney.

Matt Mattern, Jr. led the Factory Stock field to the drop of the green flag in the 20-lap feature. He led the first lap, followed by Keith Frankenfield, Dan Pawlicki, Rich Paciotti and Paul Morgan, Sr. but Morgan pulled to the infield following the opening lap.

Most of the pack ran single file in the early going and Mattern continued out front at halfway, but things picked up in the second half.

With Mattern setting a fast pace, Paciotti got by Pawlicki for third on lap 13. He then caught Frankenfield and looked to his inside and outside. As Mattern checked out and went on to take his first career win in the division, Paciotti edged Frankenfield for the second spot. Frankenfield settled for third, followed by Pawlicki and Mark Martini.

Heat race wins went to Keith Frankenfield and Matt Mattern, Jr.

After starting the 20-lap INEX Legends feature from the pole, Brad Lowmaster led the opening lap over Brendon Bock, Todd McCollum, Brandon Michael and Kyle Ellwood.

Bock took the race lead after the first circuit and McCollum moved to second on lap 2. Ellwood followed through to take third. Ellwood then got by McCollum for second and appeared to have something for the leader in the first half of the show.

Bock began to pull away from the field in the latter half of the event and went on to scored his third feature win of the season over Ellwood, McCollum, Lowmaster and B. Michael.

Brendon Bock and Todd McCollum were heat race winners.
