This Saturday evening’s regular season finale has a lot to offer both the fans and the competitors at Wall Stadium. With extra purse money being offered by race sponsor Hamer Heating and Cooling, drivers competing in the “Battle of the High Banks” events can pocket some extra cash. With double points offered in all divisions, each class will crown a driving champion. In addition, several driving champions from the past will not only meet with fans and sign autographs, but they will also compete in a special past champions race.
The “Battle of the High Banks” night will see grandstand seating opening at 5:00 p.m., with qualifying scheduled for 6:00 p.m. and main events at 7:00 p.m.
The September 29 event will see the Modifieds, Sportsman cars, Street Stocks, Factory Stocks, 4 Cylinder cars and the Legend Cars all race. The Past Champions Race will see Jerry Cranmer, Steve Springsteel, Jack Buck, Dave Michel, Glenn Osborne, J R Helberg, Chip Graves, Joe Kafka, and Robert Schlechtweg all in racing action.
Brien Hamer of Hamer Heating and Cooling will pace the field in most of the events in his classic Corvette, while plans also call for the Batmobile to be on hand. Word Search puzzles for the kids with candy bags given to those that complete and turn them in.
This Saturday (Sept. 29), pit gates are set to open at 1:00 p.m.; with practice starting at 2:30 p.m. Grandstands will open at 5:00 p.m. and the first qualifying event takes the green flag at 6:00 p.m. Main events are scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
Wall Stadium presents professional motorsports events on most Saturdays and Sundays during the summer months. The speedway is located on Route 34 in Wall Township, N.J., just one mile north of Garden State Parkway exit 98 and Interstate 195 exit 35B.
