Racers

A special thank you to everyone that took part in the first Baltimore Indoor Race. By working together we presented a great show under some difficult arrangements. Looking ahead to a Rac’n New Year’s Eve in Providence I wanted to address several key points regarding trailer parking, transponders, point fund and the New Year’s Eve Party.

TRAILER PARKING - All trailers when they arrive either on Sunday or Monday must report to the Clarion Inn, Seekonk, MA before going to the arena. Any trailer that goes the arena first will then be sent to the the Clarion which will be the Marshalling Yard for our event. There is plenty of free parking at the Clarion Inn, which is the host hotel for the event. Last year in Providence many car owners paid a large amount of money to park on Friday night in the Hilton parking area and then were hassled by police for the line on the street on Saturday morning. This new method should relieve this problem.

The Clarion Inn is easy to find. From interstate 95 in Providence you take 195 towards Providence/ Cape Cod. You will go 4.3 miles to exit 1 in Massachusetts. You will be on 114a heading south which is a slight right turn off exit. The Clarion will be on your left. The parking is behind the hotel.

Trailers will be dispatched from this lot on Monday morning starting at 7:30 am to the Dunkin’ Donuts Center in number order. The building opens at 8 AM. Once you arrive at the Dunk, you will unload and park your trailer as you have in the past. Your trailer will remain at the Dunk until the racing events have been completed. The trailer, however, can not stay in the lot overnight. It must leave after the races are over.

NEW YEAR’S EVE PARTY - For those planning on attending the New Year’s eve party at the Clarion Inn, our hopes is to have the race over by 9PM and have everyone loaded up and on their way to the Clarion well before 10 PM.

The doors open at the ballroom for the New Year’s Eve party at 10 PM. A buffet will be open until 11:30 so you’ll have plenty of time to arrive and eat. We have pushed back the one hour free beer and wine bar to start at 11 and it will end at midnight with a champayne toast. A pay bar will be open the entire time starting at 10 PM. A DJ will provide music. Hats and noise makers will be supplied.

We need a count for the hotel for the party. You will not be able to buy tickets at the door. They must be ordered in advance. If you are interested, please call Carol Ann at our office today at 609-888-3618 starting at 10 AM Monday - Friday to get your tickets which are $39 each.

This is a great deal and a wonderful way to end the evening. Last year after Providence many of us couldn’t get into a bar or restaurant after the races because they were over-crowded. It isn’t going to be any better on New Year’s Eve in the town. Come relax and enjoy the start of the New Year with your racing friends.

TRANSPONDERS - For the first time in many years we used transponder scoring at the event in Baltimore and after a tough start we got it right. The line was taped to the floor in a protective package, but it still was cut by cars bottoming out as they crossed. We then ran a scoring loop above the cars and it worked after all the racers worked with us to move their AMB Transponder to the top of the cage. This is how we will be doing it in the future. Anyone that has an AMB Transponder is encouraged to bring it with them. Anyone who does not own a transponder will need to rent one at the event.

FUEL - All cars must arrive with empty fuel tanks. New England Race Fuels will be servicing the event and will have 112 Racing Gasoline and Methanol available for sale. You will need to go through safety inspection before being able to purchase fuel.

TIRE GRINDING, PREP - No chemicals are allowed inside the building. All tire grinding will need to be done outside the building in a designated area. Anyone caught grinding tires or using tire prep inside the building will be disqualified.

$1,000 TO WIN FOR CHAMP KARTS - The Champ Kart race in Providence will now pay $1,000 to win on New Year’s Eve.

POINT FUND - The Providence race is the second of three in this year’s Fatheadz Indoor Race Series. The final events will be held in Atlantic City’s Boardwalk Hall on Feb. 1st and 2nd of 2013. Thanks to Fatheadz, Dr. Williams Lowe and the Area Auto Racing News, the Leonard J. Sammons Jr. Memorial TQ Point series will pay the winner $1,000 this year. Second will be $500 and third $250. The Champ Karts have their own point fund thanks to Mullis Speed Concepts and the Bonsignore Kart Shop. The Champ Kart top point man from the three races will receive $500 with second place paying $300 and third $200.

ENTRY LIST - We currently have 36 TQs and 32 Champ Karts entered so there still are a few spots open to those interested.
